TJ Perry
Literally just got home from buying this exact bike from Walmart Thanks for diving in 🙏🏽
Comment from : TJ Perry

Evgeniy P
No bike or this bike ? Its no brainer - this bike Another option maybe - better used bike
Comment from : Evgeniy P

JamesSB rittingham
This bike was really easy to assemble wwwyoutubecom/post/UgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments The frame had some small scratches, but nothing majorI did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tiresOverall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike
Comment from : JamesSB rittingham

GCho733
I’m surprised they still make quill stems these days
Comment from : GCho733

Bjorn Langoren
For 248 it would be better trolling craigslist or facebook for a used bike
Comment from : Bjorn Langoren

Home boi
Try the triban 100, step lower than the 120 Alloy frame, thumb shifter, pretty heavy as well Significantly cheaper than the 120 though
Comment from : Home boi

Nadeem Hanna
Please review the Wizard Lightning 33 from Merlin cycles! Sora drivetrain for £425 must be the best value bike around!
Comment from : Nadeem Hanna

david burgess
Ha ha! Just purchase the rubber water bottle holders, also sold at Walmart, throw away the velcro straps, use zip ties instead, and you can fit as many bottles as you would want American ingenuity via China! I know, I was hoping for better, but this works really well
Comment from : david burgess

WeekendsOutsideFL
I just picked one of these up after returning a Hyper $148 bike before ever riding it that I realized was much too small for me It had worse reviews than this, but I took this exact bike out for my first ride today and I will say it’s not too bad at all It was super tempting to stretch myself and get into the $300 category but I’m just going to have to settle for this as I am not exactly made of money and I’m glad to see a review that states this is decent enough for the money to keep and not be disappointed about
Comment from : WeekendsOutsideFL

TyreseSP
If you ever need a "racer" for one of your budget bikes in the (I'm assuming) soon to come mega bike race video, I'm your guy! Newbie rider to race one of the cheapo bikes and see how they would fair in the hands of someone that has no racing experience but does bike a hell of a lot
Comment from : TyreseSP

Liyo Lusy
Great Video I've always wanted a road/race bike but couldn't afford one, if you guys don't need one anymore help a brother out
Comment from : Liyo Lusy

G G
The Kent would be a great project by upgrading to the LTwoo gravel group set
Comment from : G G

1cityandcolour1
Can you test the KS cycling Xceed Gravel next? It's 425 €
Comment from : 1cityandcolour1

philip rayner
the Canadian version of this bike is only a 9 speed and it is small
Comment from : philip rayner

Cloxxki
Can't the disc brakes to made to work properly?
Comment from : Cloxxki

Cloxxki
In Europe that particular Decathlon bike costs a good bit more (€549 already discounted), but there ARE much cheaper options Even one with double brake levers and rim brakes
Comment from : Cloxxki

Cloxxki
If a bike works with a range of stem length, such fit range might work For a 2" height difference, you need only like 12-14mm of top tube or stem length Half is in the legs after all, and the seat tube angle makes the higher seat sit back more Ideally a ibgger bike came with longer cranks, but the market decided that riders are not worth a choice of correct length cranks For this reason, tall riders on average will set their seat even more aft, needing even less in the top tube or stem
Comment from : Cloxxki

WILLIAM A STANTON
That bike is just too heavy! 34 pounds is heavy for a mountain bike too, but it is more acceptable on a mountain bike, than a road or gravel bike
Comment from : WILLIAM A STANTON

Kevin Indra
Now please do a walmart bike upgrade video!
Comment from : Kevin Indra

kayque xavier
Solid single speed contestant
Comment from : kayque xavier

Vier Sterne Deluxe Records
Seeing Fidlock in an internationaly video is now suprissingly - lived for years near their HQ And at least teh bike has a real seatclamp and not the type that is also part of the frame
Comment from : Vier Sterne Deluxe Records

alrit
248 on my country probably will got an alloy frame, 2x9 chinese groupset with brifter, and disc brake
Comment from : alrit

Bill Kong
do a full tuneup and fit without spending any money
Comment from : Bill Kong

Bill Kong
Just buy a used bike
Comment from : Bill Kong

Lieshas Translations
Considering how much it weighs, lifting this pile of steel pipes should give you better/safer workout than riding it??
Comment from : Lieshas Translations

Paul Middlemass
Not saying the result would be different But we're the disc brakes bedded in at all?
Comment from : Paul Middlemass

Kelton Shields
The stupid kickstand and lack of a quick release is a requirement for all bikes at Walmart Without it they won’t sell that model It’s kind of dumb and silly They have contractor people assembling them that don’t even speak English I’ve seen this firsthand I had to point out to the guy that he was assembling parts of the bike backwards in my broken Spanish
Comment from : Kelton Shields

Brandon T-A
In regards to the lack of water bottle cage mounts, I would suggest something like the Adventure Hydration Cranktank It comes in a 3L and 4L version, and is held in place in the middle triangle with rubber pads and 2 beefy velcro straps It can be tricky getting an airtight seal at the quick disconnect fitting though, so I would recommend ditching it and using a pair of pliers to stretch some 1/4" ID tubing over the male end where the fitting connects and securing it with a releasable zip tie brbrApoligies for the long-winded comment
Comment from : Brandon T-A

Dawless House Music
I bought a Walmart fixie and I love the thing
Comment from : Dawless House Music

Giannis_TDM
Holy shit that weighs more than my full sus 150mm very overbuilt trail bike!
Comment from : Giannis_TDM

Edward Scoble
Please bring back closed captioning :(
Comment from : Edward Scoble

Michael Lee
A steel frame bike for $249!! Buy it for the frame and replace components with used good parts You'll have a bike that'll last for years
Comment from : Michael Lee

Robert Tracey
You should test some of the pinnicle bikes as they are on sale now I think? Although tbh triban is a solid choice I think the issue with cheaper bikes are fit based things like drops and stems
Comment from : Robert Tracey

Aubreykun
I am honestly glad to see the stem shifters on an entry level bike this this There's some garbage thumb-shifters on the tops on some low end bikes Stem shifters are super nice for casual riding, and I agree that it looks like one of those low end bikes that you can go full "Ship of Thesius" into upgrading to a really nice bike
Comment from : Aubreykun

frunkiss
I got this bike last year for $30 on clearance, I knew it'd be bad but couldn't resist at that price After putting good tires and flat bars on it's actually fun to ride for a few miles at least also replaced the components with tourney tier stuff so it sucks a bit less Though even after these upgrades, I stopped riding it because of the flimsy crankset which feels woefully inefficient for any long ride For a casual cyclist this bike does have potential, but they probably should've just sold it with flat bars and trigger shifters to simplify things for said casual cyclist
Comment from : frunkiss

Tringmotion e-bike & Cycle Store
disc set up does not need super true wheels and are probably cheaper A few quid extra gets you tourney sti levers I would guess the smaller front cranksets are more expensive than the standard sizes, I think I bought some no name ones for 35 quid though (sti)
Comment from : Tringmotion e-bike & Cycle Store

pigeonkill blah
I remember the conclusion back from the days when disc were replacing v-brakes on MTB bikes was that you need hydraulic discs, otherwise it's better stick to mechanical v-brakes, and now every gravel bike review/video is echoing it I wonder if some we'll see v-brakes gravel bikes on the budget level as it just makes so much more sense for this segment
Comment from : pigeonkill blah

virgyl fernandes
After consulting with my crystal ball here I believe we will be seeing more of the good doctor
Comment from : virgyl fernandes

Daniel Maguire
Watching this I was thinking that it would be cool to compare this and the Triban to a second hand bike at the same price point Perhaps you could do a video with Recyke Y' Bike in Byker to build it and highlight the work they do as well!
Comment from : Daniel Maguire

Tyre Howard
My first road/gravel bike
Comment from : Tyre Howard

Moonraker Deep
15 wow :DD thats a dirt jumping weight or a light FS bike
Comment from : Moonraker Deep

Gothicgirl
15kg? That's the Weight of my steel bike from around 1998 with modern parts
Comment from : Gothicgirl

Heath Delzell
I love a good kickstand
Comment from : Heath Delzell

Miguel GLC
I would love to see a race climbing the Stelvio pass on those!
Comment from : Miguel GLC

ZN
Brake test needs you to swap bikes heavier rider needs to dissipate more kinetic energy
Comment from : ZN

Aeronwor
I have never had luck with the universal bottle cage mounts, they just are not sturdy enough to cope with vibration Just attach the bottle cage with a pair of hose clamps
Comment from : Aeronwor

GMSlash
Amazing how you can just teleport between the UK and the US!
Comment from : GMSlash

David Wilson
After my last carbon bike was stolen I bought a Triban RC500 @ £500 It's pretty good, no issues and no one ever gives it a second glance (helps that it's stealth black) Also available in multiple sizes so it does fit
Comment from : David Wilson

Lloyd Randall
Need to check back on old vids, but have you tested the infamous Eurobike?
Comment from : Lloyd Randall

ArtanisKizrath
That looks like a decent "bike-shaped object"
Comment from : ArtanisKizrath

Stuart Potter
Let's see what you can do by putting some of that cool Alli Express kit on that bike to upgrade it Hydro brakes? Good gear rations? comfy bars, Oh, and some good tyres, obs
Comment from : Stuart Potter

Critical
Im just getting back into fitness, and was looking for an affordable bike to ride this summer I'm extremely budget-heavy and I know its never good to go too cheap, What are some things to look out for when buying a cheap bike?
Comment from : Critical

Randal Bladel
Oh, for heaven’s sake Nearly all of the bikes in my family are older steel bikes without replaceable derailleur hangers, and I have never had one break off The only exception are the three mountain bikes and a fat bike, and even though they have replaceable hangers, none of them have needed replacement either This is a problem more for aggressive off road ridding such as enduro and downhill disciplines
Comment from : Randal Bladel

wwiinndddd
I have a Kent bohe 700c gravel bike that its MSRP is $348 but I bought it when it's on sale for $128 and it has all the proper "upgrades" to the $248 in this video It has bottle cage bolts, separate derailleur hanger, l-twoo brake-shifters, tourney RD brbrIt's so cheap that of course it comes with some cheap parts If you spend a couple hundred dollars to upgrade, for example, tires, brake calipers, saddle and chain, it can be a very solid entry level bike brbrStill super heavy but safe and enjoyable I say that because I still enjoy riding and commuting with this bike after I got a carbon frame Sram etap AXS bike for real cycling
Comment from : wwiinndddd

The Mondo One
350 pounds is twice the cost of 250 dollars They are marketing it to a lower range market
Comment from : The Mondo One

Cassiel Viricimo
Id like to see you guys upgrading the Triban, and reusing its parts on this walmart bike
Comment from : Cassiel Viricimo

Kevin Lyon
That's probably as cheap as you'd want to go buying new, as for upgrades frames not really worth it unless you already had the parts and you just want a cheap bike to commute on
Comment from : Kevin Lyon

Aashman Goghari
you don't get cadbury stuff in the US - so there would be no cream egg trust me i've looked
Comment from : Aashman Goghari

damien walters
Guys love the videos But you keep comparing it to the decathlon triban but that bike is £600 now
Comment from : damien walters

Steve Taylor
Hey @cade, great videos, love your channel Looking for thoughts on a cheap entry level gravel? Have you done video on this? Cheers
Comment from : Steve Taylor

MasterBata
I think it's customary for Walmart bikes (or maybe all big box bikes in the US?) to have one-size-fit-all It's absolutely crazy, over here in Europe even cheapest bikes come in different sizes
Comment from : MasterBata

Alex Pomeranets
Can you guys review a specialized diverge e5 base model I bought it a year back and I think I got scammed a bit for the price it’s at
Comment from : Alex Pomeranets

Alex Pomeranets
Anybody know what model Francis’ Scott rim brake bike is
Comment from : Alex Pomeranets

C4su4L
Re: non functioning cross lever: The drop lever has a wheel release position for rim brakes, you can see the lever on the right sticking out way further than the one on the left Pull the lever and move the silver cross pin to the other positon, this pulls the brake a little and should make the cross lever work as intended
Comment from : C4su4L

ChasC
Jimmy!
Comment from : ChasC

Brent Briones
Please make this bike a series to upgrade it to a certain point (mix of mid level groupsets/higher end parts) with proper sizing and race it! Maybe keeping the total under $1,000-$1,500 with the bike price?
Comment from : Brent Briones

Pork N Bomb
I have this bike There wasn't a spec of grease on anything and whoever assembled the wheel axles absolutely wrenched them down to the max Also the cups on the bottom bracket were cross threaded in After completely overhauling the whole bike it's not bad The frame seems great which is about the only thing besides the wheels that are original on it for me Had to dig deep into the parts bin on this parts bin special 😂
Comment from : Pork N Bomb

yazidyusop
We need a banger of a bike show Convert it Gravel, hipster, market, cafe, tourer whatever bike Change it up every month the steel frame has big potential 😊
Comment from : yazidyusop

Jamie lynch
Upgrade it to the highest spec Groupset and wheels you can!
Comment from : Jamie lynch

Milan B
Race? Has Francis been watching carwow? Can't wait for the budget bike drag race 😂
Comment from : Milan B

Sebastián Machado
Formula 1 race — no budget limitations We just want to see how far you can upgrade entry level bikes!🤩
Comment from : Sebastián Machado

SweCreations
9:39 steel has no fatigue limit AFAIK, so unless I'm wrong you really should be able to bend it as many times as you want no?
Comment from : SweCreations

Bj Scoular
The way i read it was 700c is good for 5'4 - 6'2 assuming if you are smaller than 5'4 they have 650B and larger than 6'2 you would need a 32' or 36' so not frame wise but wheel wise
Comment from : Bj Scoular

Andrew Bedford
You definitely need to take one of these cheap bike frames and put on it the best of the best equipment in your studio to see how it goes brbrI'd love to see a triban or halfords frame with full carbon peripherals, sram etap hydros and deep section carbon wheels !
Comment from : Andrew Bedford

Dan Thompson
Ask Seth's Bike hacks about the Kent brand 😂
Comment from : Dan Thompson

Egyenes Kifli
It is a steel frame So even the last, least equipped machine shop can weld a new hanger to it Don't need any special stuff to do it
Comment from : Egyenes Kifli

Aizins
here in SEA with that price you can get a decent entry level bike with ltwoo or sensah on it
Comment from : Aizins

Russell Seaton
You keep comparing this 200 Pound bike to the one you like at 350 Pounds I'm not sure something 75 more expensive is really comparable For every bike from $1 garage sale or Goodwill bike up to about $500, the most and only important part is adjusting it correctly Truing the wheels Adjusting the brake pads Aligning and tightening everything straight Adjusting the derailleurs to shift There is no difference in quality or performance between $1 and $500 Its all down to adjustment
Comment from : Russell Seaton

Austin S
I have that bike Bought it to get back into riding and it fit my budget I do plan on upgrading a few things over time on it but overall I like it
Comment from : Austin S

Shirell Patterson
I love it! I just myself got a Genesis Bohe when it went on sale at Walmart I'm so impressed with the bike after some upgrades that I decided that it was the only gravel bike I would be racing this year It rides that good
Comment from : Shirell Patterson

Fred Eric
Reminds me of Coop bicycles (Kayoba)High Tensil frames with 40 year old gears Shimano Sis died in the 90s Nothing wrong with it but it's clunky heavy and outdated You should put a mustache handle-bar on it I agree about the Triban! Best bang for the money!
Comment from : Fred Eric

mrvwbug44
I remember the long extension levers that used to come off the main brake levers so you could brake on the tops back in the 80s or so haha
Comment from : mrvwbug44

Longhair Airsoft
Would love to see top end components on that Frame x))
Comment from : Longhair Airsoft

Luke Chiao
I would love to see you upgrade these budget bikes with the most high end components and see how they ride
Comment from : Luke Chiao

richard carr
LOL be realistic its a $250 bicycle made in china sold n assembled by minimum wage people who probably dont even get full time hrs to tune something that cheap to LBS standards ?? YA RIGHT GOOD LUCK WITH THAT you two should know better to check it over and tune it yourself to be safe and so should everyone who buys bikes from walmart or other department stores !!! NOW for what your getting actually not bad AT LEAST you wont balk if it gets stollen
Comment from : richard carr

Peter Johnson
Would love to see you review the voodoo nakisi £650
Comment from : Peter Johnson

breathestrongcycling
Surely the shipping cost more than the bike 😆
Comment from : breathestrongcycling

Minty YT
You could buy better roadbikes for that price here in the Philippines
Comment from : Minty YT

Bennett Hasty
Lol no bike should be a rim break bike 🚴 in this century 😂
Comment from : Bennett Hasty

Most imperial and metric units are easily translated but height confounds me! If imperial height were in inches (eg 72 inches) or decimalized feet (eg 585 ft) it'd be easier, but nooooo
