I’m going to have to replace an old Jenn Air dual fuel range with downdraft soon I don’t necessarily want another Jenn Air but want downdraft capability Would love an induction but what I need is really hard to find! We have no capacity for a hood, hence the downdraft! Comment from : Victoria Harper |

You should be pushing induction stoves, not gas stoves Induction is bMUCH/b bMUCH/b better! There literally is bNO/b comparison !!! Comment from : Antiorganizer |

A lot of great information I'm disappointed that Whirlpool isn't all that great these days, I had a bad experience with the GE appliances I bought for our new house in the mid 90's and have been a lot happier with the Whirlpool models I replaced them with I would add that I wouldn't buy any microwave other than a Panasonic with their inverter technology as it works really well to both reheat and to defrost, we don't cook anything with our microwavebrbrWe cook every single meal at home so our kitchen and stove get a lot of use I used to dream of having double wall ovens and a cook top but as I'm getting older and a little wiser I really appreciate the simplicity and low cost of a normal range I've been able to easily work around not having 2 ovens and after watching what my parents have been through with servicing and replacing their built in appliances I'm super glad that I never went that route I would also say that with our glass top stove, I'm disappointed that I can't use cast iron on it and when the time comes to replace it I'd really like to go with a coil top for that reason alone even though it can be harder to clean I'm also not a fan of convection ovens as it's a huge difference to "slow cook" rather than having the fan to speed things along After a couple of disappointing Thanksgiving turkeys at my parent's house, I figured out that it was because my mom was using the convection settingmuch better without it My wife and I make several turkey dinners throughout the fall and winter as it's an inexpensive and delicious dinner that we get a lot out of with things like turkey pot pie, sandwiches and soup Every single one of them turns out perfectly and no need for a second ovenbrbrCheers! I have a Kitchen-Aid double wall oven and I have no complaints It's also a double convection so that is nice when I need to operate 2 ovens at the same time (Thanksgiving) My cooktop however, is absolutely amazing! I use it daily and it is from Ikea When I bought it 3 years ago, it was $600 for the top tier one they offered and when I brought it home, I took off the glass top to make sure the elements were still aligned before I dropped it into it's hole on my countertop and when I did, the inside says "Electrolux" all over the inside of it Knowing Electrolux makes Frigidaire, I found that the EXACT same cooktop is made with their name on it and is sold by Lowes and Home Depot for $1900 Buying from Ikea, I have the exact same product and saved $1200 By the way, after daily use for 3 years, it has been flawless I would absolutely recommend induction for the energy savings (cooks faster than gas) and accuracy (more accurate than gas) Comment from : Phillip Harrison |
On the microwave front Panasonic I believe makes their own and they have great inverter tech Comment from : Noah Harris |
Watching this after finding out that the less than 2 year old Whirlpool “smart” wall oven that came with our house has a control board failure that would cost $600 to fix The thing has been terrible from day 1 so it’s getting replaced Comment from : thesledgehammerblog |

After being in the Navy for 20 years and using GE made components There's a reason I outfitted my kitchen and laundry appliances about 15 years ago to everything GE Not a single issue Although my Dishwasher should get replaced due to newer more eco choices I just find myself holding backbecause all I ever see is my friends having issues with stuff (various brands) post COVID 😑 Comment from : Sea2TC |
I dispatched for Maytag repair for 2 years and I'll tell you You couldn't give me a glass top for free! They're too hard to deal with If you don't immediately wipe up a spill good luck getting it up later, especially if it had sugar or acid in it You can keep them clean but no one should have to spend that much time and be that careful when they're cooking dinner Comment from : missychan63 |

Count us "unique" but we have several Samsung appliances, a dual convection/glass top range, a 4-door/drawer refrigerator and a recently added dishwasher The dishwasher is new, so no history on it but the others are working like new and are @ 9 years old this year So, my point being, not everyone regrets their Samsung appliance purchases What are the hard numbers regarding, say, failures per 100,000 units or whatever applies? Surely, not everyone with a Samsung appliance has them blow up on them If Bosch, Miele, and GE are your favored brands, what are the repair rates by brand/models/years? Surely there are industry statistics that are available instead of having to subscribe to Consumer Reports? Comment from : R Usack |
I love electric coil stoves There are tricks you can do in cooking -- particularly at low heat that electric coils are best at I just got a new Fridgidaire, with the thermal sensors which are built in the coils I just pulled out the 'thermal protective' coils, and put in new ordinary coils from the hardware store, works fine Comment from : Babbette Duboise |
My dad's house was built in the 70s, and he had the original appliances, Hotpoint cooktop and wall oven It got to the point where he had to light the burners with a candle lighter, so he decided to replace it I found out it just needed to be cleaned around where the pilot lights are supposed to be, and it would work again I suggested he keep it, because that cooktop will probably last forever, but he wanted something shiny and new, even if it was less reliable 🤦♂ At least I was able to talk him into getting a Thermador, which has worked out nicely so farbrbrWhen the oven stopped working correctly, he wanted to replace it as well, but I forbade it All it needed was a new heating element, and for him to stop covering the bottom with foil (which of course was why it broke in the first place), and it was good as new Only downside, aside from its appearance, is that it's a little small at 27" Comment from : jC3drums |

Are these brands available in western Canada? Where can I get that informationbrI had a very bad experience with a gas stove that could not boil water no mater how many times the repair man tried The stove was made in Mexico the warranty replaced a part to no avail, finally a repair man diagnosed that it had been built for propane gas I sold it to someone needing that gas source The extra warranty did not cover for the mislabeling of the stove The problem could not be detected for a long time and was very expensive to reach solution I lost trust in the dealer, manufacturer and insurance Comment from : Monique Huchet |

Last 4 years bought 2 brand new glass top stoves One lasted 1 3/4 and the meat about 2 years snd a few months I'm disgusted with every appliance I've bought over last 10 years Working on my stuff non stop It's bs Tha last one was a ge Just nimow cracked after turning front burner on About 10 seconds later u get a pop Sucks Comment from : Matthew Otis |
Honestly I think we'd all be happier if we just used portable induction cooktops, hotplates, and other countertop appliances Maybe they'll last you five years, maybe ten, but ultimately it doesn't matter because you can have as many or as few as you'd like and they cost very little; all you need is a circuit to plug it into with enough amps left but kitchens are not built like this I'm reading the IRC and NEC and it's not clear if portable induction cooktops and hotplates meet the code minimums or not, but I'm not seeing anything in here that specifically demands permanent installation (aside from the sink) Comment from : microcolonel |

Funny that you mentioned Whirlpool circuit boards I just had a circuit board failure on a 2012 model Maytag electric range After a 4 month wait for parts I just found out that they are no longer available and the only option is attempted rebuild of the board or replacement of an 11 year old range Fortunately, I have the model with 'old fashioned' knobs for the cooktop (which I use 90 of the time) The service tech came out and removed the circuit board but I still have use of the cooktop I'm hoping to limp along with my large toaster over/air fryer and cooktop until a find a killer deal on the GE models you mentioned I would have bought another Maytag/Whirlpool if I had not seen your video Much appreciation Comment from : Ellis Medavoy |

I thought Whirlpool made them all, at least 5 brands under their flag And I thought GE is not a manufacturer, just slapped their name on an OEM vendor product A modest Whirlpool 5 cu gas stove? Comment from : Clarc King |

Your opinion please I want a double oven slide in black stainless steel electric to match my whirlpool fridge I really wanted the GE model number JSS86SPSS but they don't make it in black stainless I've looked at Cafe and Zline and lots of others but if i feel like I'd have to replace my fridge to match I don't want Samsung or LG but it seems like the LG would fit the bill here The LG isn't priced bad I would be willing to spend more if i could find the right one that matched my fridge of black stainless Model number LTEL7337D What's your opinion of the LG i listed? CIA⁉️ wrong it was the Mafia‼️ Before the house fire I had an older Maytag that was easy to repair The repairman said don’t buy a new one cuz they are closed units & cant be repaired, the whole unit had to be replaced Unfortunately Whirlpool bot them out In the ‘60 my sis had a W’pool & it tied diapers into knots After the fire I wound up with a new W’pool & they hadn’t changed😡 knot knot knot‼️ when I got my insurance $ I bot a side loader & gave away, FREE, the W’poolI found Whirlpool to be the WORST It has no agitator & rolls the clothes into KNOTS & goes off balance constantly😡 Comment from : Shirley Andrews |

Glass topped stove in this house I bought last year just went POW and cracked from side to side/front to back On my way today to get me a basic stove No more glass tops for me Comment from : Vicki Kent |
So, you mention how expensive the stuff is to repair on an induction but Im looking to switch from an electric glass top to induction because I just had someone out to quote me on a repair for a SINGLE infinity switch and its $350 Thats literally 1/4th the cost of a new induction If that goes 7+ years, ill replace it Thats stupid but also so is a physical switch costing 350 Comment from : Real |
It's too hot here to use an oven 6-9 months out of the year, so I use a lot of smaller countertop appliances I just want a small induction stovetop and a small wall oven Comment from : UVIcki |

Bought an LG gas stove and less than 6 months oven went out I paid just under 30000 to have the igniter replaced The repair guy insisted that was the issue Well nope a couple of weeks later it quit again I replaced the temperature sensor and still nope I will never buy a LG again I have had it 7 years and only use the top of it I bought a separate convection oven The range did have a convection and neither bake or convection has worked Comment from : Mel ???? |
How lucky I am you did this just 2 months before I need to buy a stove xD I live in Sweden though but this is the best video for me Even if much of the specifics don't translate as models don't exists here ect But the general takes was really good! Comment from : 1212Diablo |

Who killed JFK? CIA!! Ha Ha Ha!! Thank you for your videos I am looking for a range made in the USA, good quality, gas, and that when I put the frying pan on it, the oil or liquid does not gravitate to the side of the pan, usually it goes to center of the range And I end up with a burned frying pan on one side because the range is not leveled I have to be constantly moving the food to where the oil is To me that is a terribly bad quality range brbrAlso, one important feature is that the range has a panel that shows which burners are on I have almost burn my place because I have forgotten a pot on the stove and the burner was on brbrWhen a pot or pan is on a burner the flame is not visible because the pot covers it, and I have only to rely on my memory So, to me this is one of the most important features of a range, or cooktop--a panel that shows which burners are If you can address these points I would be very thankful !! A lot of fires start in the kitchen because people forgot the stove was on Comment from : letitia |
One thing this video does not mention about induction stovetops is the size of the coil under the glass If you want to use a 10 or 12 inch skillet, the coil needs to be 10 inches in diameter for pan to heat evenly Induction stovetops on cheaper models tend to use only smaller coils; the size painted on the glass often has nothing to do with the actual size of the coil Larger coils are more expensivebrbrManufacturers usually don't provide the diameter of the coils in their product literature They should Comment from : Jeff Harris |
I love your videos I learned so much from them Can you do a video on the best built in wall oven and microwave? Comment from : maryam khan |
How about the gas/electric hybrids? A comparison of those would be appreciated also Comment from : Qoolcat |
For Induction cooktops and stoves, the most important thing about them, is it must adjust the temperature in no more than 5 degree increments Anything more than that and it goes from not bubbling at all, to boiling over It's impossible to "simmer" Some of the cheap ones have a 15-20 degree step We saw one with "Low, Medium & High" We've had good luck with the better Nuwave burners We just got the 2 burner unit because Amazon had a great price on it The prices on Nuwave burners have dropped with all of the new competition We have a fancy gas range but don't use it much We are in South Texas and don't want to heat up the house Comment from : Richard Brant |
have a Samsung the black on the grills is only surface deep and the 5 burners stain easily and are very hard to clean a 1000 dollar mistake Comment from : Tom BeeGeeEye |

I bought a used Jenn Air oven The unit is modular and was the only unit to cover my needs I needed a down draft , a coil plugin for canning, smooth top plugins for day to day use and a convection oven,brThe oven had a key pad go bad and ended up buying one off Ebay used The cost was $50brI have a stand alone induction cook top Mine is a Cooktek that runs on 240vbrThe one thing that is used most is my convection microwave It's the one thing that fails the most for me The machine I have now has had a burnt open electrical connection to the heater and now the rotary timer is starting to have problems This is normally cold solder joints on the rotary encoder I just installed a commercial unit hopefully all my problems will go away Great video Comment from : steve gorkowski |

Whirlpool's cooking appliances and refrigerators are easily the worst I've seen over the past few years You're spot on, except I will note that I've had a TON of GE stoves/ranges that have had very poor build quality and needed replacement door hinges or outright replacement due to fitment issues over the last two years And their control boards are trash Comment from : phantom240 |

I bought a Whirlpool a few years ago, and one of the burners is acting up already (won't turn down unless I turn it off I've been burning a lot of stuff) I was so glad when you didn't recommend it Comment from : Angelina afarensis |

Thermador and viking are always ranked at the very bottom in consumer reports testing Wolf is right there with them In nearly every appliance category lg dominates as far as performance and ease of use and has in their testing for years Comment from : Kahless 01 |
Great video! Two years ago I bought a Frigidaire range (about $700) with the glass top and no bells and whistles Seems like a really good unit Instead of getting a convection oven option I spent $50-60 on a small Black and Decker toaster oven with an air fryer and when it stops working I can just throw it away I also bought an Amana fridge, it seems ok but I think it might be an energy hog It has a bigger freezer than most did and that's what I wanted so I'm sure that's where the extra electricity is going I really like your videos! Comment from : ktm42080 |
I 1,000 percent agree with you on Whirlpool We’re on our second fridge (they replaced the first one) in two years The new one’s ice maker had already failed Comment from : Story Time Nails |

45 seconds in "what stoves are going to be reliable?" Uh, just a guess but Maytag? I just can't put my HAT on why I think that Edit: @7:40 I was wrong! Comment from : ZippytheHappyChimp |
Lg owner here had our stove electric, we have had it repaired 4 times in less than 2 years!!!! Due to the oven venting below the control board So my advice is to vent where the controls are not!! The only reason we still have it is its under extended warranty Soon as its warranty is up it WILL find a new home Comment from : pocky b |
HA! @22:13 I loved that skit, it caught me off guard when I heard you say that from the other room so I ran back to rewind to make sure I heard you right :) Thanks for the great laugh today! Comment from : etikilam |

I'll never buy GE/Whirlpool again, after they refused to honor their warranty, on a flat control panel that started to crack within the 1st 12 months Now it's time to replace some of our appliances, and they'll lose thousands in sales Kind of stupid, and I hear they are majority china owned now Comment from : Peter McCann |
It's hard to take you seriously when you keep recommending Viking Viking is Frigidaire quality at Wolf prices Seriously Wolf and Miele are the best Thermadore 3rd because after 3 years you have to drill and grind the burners apart Comment from : Alexander Clarke |
I had a Samsung refrigerator that wasn’t cooling properly I live in a city of just over a million people I expected to be able to call a local repairman but the Samsung 1-800 number took me to another city almost 2 hours away In any case they arraigned to send a repairman and he could not fix it, nor did he offer any advice on who could This was a Samsung repairman! Using the internet I found out how to repair it and fixed it myself I will never buy another Samsung appliance Comment from : Peeta |
