Have to disagree with something you statedbought a Yardmax 21" for $199 at Home Depot 4 years agosimply check oil each use (top off if necessarystill have original quart), fill gas, pump prime 3 times and first pull it starts right uponly issue I have had is that when I have to refill gas during mowing session or stop for any reason have to wait a few minutes before you get a one pull start (seems doesn't want to restart if engine is warm?) I haven't yet changed the spark plug, make sure I don't put it away with gasoline in it (I run non ethanol gas only!) keep stabil in gas can so stored gas is kept freshyard is 2 acres and it takes me about 15 to 2 hours to cut and use just 15 tanks of fuelI'm very happy with the no maintenance (other than cleaning the deck and sharpening blade once a year) aspect of this mower! Its not a self propel has no bells or whistles (except the really great feature to compactly fold down the handle for a very small footprint in my shed!) but at the time of purchase didn't have much money and figured (compared to the prices of all the other mowers at the time) what the heck if it lasted me one season to allow me time to locate a better used mower in my budget, I had nothing to lose! Glad I took the chance for an 60 year old woman that had never bought or used a lawn mower before I think I did good! Comment from : Victoria Cigler |

My mom had a snapper She bought it in 1978, the year I was born In my early 30's it finally died and couldn't be fixed anymore We had a 1/3rd acre lawn and it got a two year break when he had a riding mower but for the most part, routine maintenance on it It just worked, usually Haha Definitely got her monies worth! Comment from : Bradford A Ciecko |

I purchased a push mower from Tractor Supply in 2017 with a Kohler engine and it has always started and ran The only problem that I had with it is that it would build up a vacuum in the gas tank but drilling a hole in the gas cap took care of that Comment from : W L |
|

Thank you for these informative videos! My daughter is needing a mover, and we are in Southern Florida on the Gulf side, anyway, I’m not used to what is called grass here, and from what I’ve seen about the electric mowers, I am trying to steer her away from a mint pit of a mover Thanks again! Oh and my husband has had his hand me down mower from his dad that’s still running and Is over 35+ years old! So I like to say with everything that is junk, make mowers great again! 🥰 Comment from : BajaGirl302 |

I bought a snapper 21-inch mower in 1987 which i still have It has a 3 1/2 B&S engine that still runs but its tired and i have to rev the engine to cut my hilly quarter acre yard with Zoysa grass I had to replace the bearing on the horizontal drive disc one time by punching out the old bearing and replacing it I picked up a craftsman 22-inch black mower that just needed the carburetor cleaned and was being thrown to the curb It cuts the Zoysa really good and is approximately 15 or more years old which has spoiled me Comment from : joseph ryan |

😍STIGA DINO 47 😍 (not self propelled) I think they did just about everything right with it The deck/chassis (3-step height adjustment) has rear & front `lips´ laying down the grass making it really easy to push The knife is sharpened all the way along on both sides instead of just the ends and shaped so it really cuts everything (forget all about aftermarket mulching knifes etc), i have cut grass higher than 12 inches with no problems (try that with a "tip edge only knife"), and i can stop and turn without getting the lawn full of rings Instead of just the safety killswitch `string´ grinding my hands it has a plastic handle and it doesnt vibrate much 100cc B & S engine made in Italy? Bought one in spring of 2016 for about 150 usd and was so happy with it i had to buy one more By 2019 or -20 i discovered the storechain i bought them from was going out of stock so i bought 2 more now for 250 usd a piece (worth it) The first one has lived through lots of `heavy duty´ stuff the last 8 summers and it still runs as good as always so it`s a tough little thing and it has never failed to start I run all my small engines on acrylic gasoline (Aspen) only Since they demand so little fuel i might as well use the good stuff I also bought some spare parts like knifes, knife attachments(in-built weakpoint), ignition coils, filters etc so i probably have lawnmowers for the rest of my life 😃 Comment from : Slowbird1137 |

I have a husky 800 series mower with you guessed it a Honda 160 cc engine and it's been nine years Now with Husqvarna no longer making gas mowers and Honda stopping production I can't find a single lawn mower that's gas and would be reliable Electric with plastic decks and blade adapters I literally don't see a hands-down choice for a replacement mower when I might need it! I don't like Toros personal pace and many people say the wheels fall off what is going on??brKeep up the good work Tom in Virginia Comment from : Thomas Ozemko |

Thank you for your videos! They are very informativebrbrbrI almost purchased a honda lawn mower, except that honda put a stop sale on the mower due to a camshaft issue, and I did not like the bottom of the mower deck which had a big opening to the engine and belts, which were subject to grass clippings being gummed up in that area You brought this to my attention I am very surprised that honda did not put a cover over that space to prevent issues As a result, I am no longer pursuing a honda lawn mowerbrbrbrI've also seen, on multiple youtube videos, that some lawn mower engines are now made with carburators that have plastic parts, which I want to stay away from brbrbrDo you know of any small engines brands / models for lawn mowers that dont have plastic parts in their carburetor?brbrbrMy price rang is $500- $700 dollarsbrbrbrI am interested in a 21 inch gas powered self propelled push mowerbrbrbrThank you Comment from : V Carr |
|
Honda is sold out everywhere What are your thoughts on getting a Toro self propelled, non personal pace? Comment from : erik morse |
|
I've had great luck with the plastic carb The mower I now have is one I worked on in the past for another person Each spring I'd remove the little varnish blob in the carb pickup tube and the owner would be back in business They later got a different mower and gave the one to me, which I've had the last few years I use ethanol free gas and I have no issues every spring It starts up on the 2nd or 3rd pull every time The plastic carb is very easy to work on and causes me pretty much no grief Comment from : JE Taylor |

Ive got a homedepot giftcard, what's the best and cheapest there? Comment from : Myster Cube |

I had one of those M110 140 cc craftsman models It had the issue with the plastic carburetor where I just took it apart and did a little mod and used true fuel and never had any issues with it again whatsoever Unfortunately I hit a hidden stump with it the other day and it completely bent and twisted the crankshaft beyond being able to straighten it back out😢 Comment from : saleseng |

Great video i bought the honda hrx 217 in Canada in 2019 late in season brought out 2020 when reached my 5hrs Of use did first oil change as per honda brought out in 2021 no problems loved it brought out in 2022 3rd time out it literally blew up big hole in the left side of engine oil everywhere i paid 1550$ total i took to dealership they were shocked said never seen that before, I said must of been a lemon got response from honda said no goodwill due to dealership told them was from my lack of lubrication/maintenance i asked to speak to supervisor to tell me what i apparently did or didnt do to make it blow up went back to same 5 person team that refused goodwill first time still havent heard nothing been going back and forth with honda since may 5 this year still no lawnmower cant buy one until get news i sure hope they stand behind there product Comment from : Les Lupton |

A couple years ago I decided I finally want to spring the $700 for a great honda mower instead of the usual stuff I get out of the garbage and fix up This was the single worst waste of money I have ever spent The free junk stuff works just as well The only real difference is teh Honda does start a little easier and better than the junk I always use But is that worth $700 more? NO!!! Will never waste my money on paying for a name again!! Comment from : Pd Legend |
|
I have a Toro gts model 20007 I got it free in 2008 because the drive didn't work I ripped all the drive bits off and it has been working like a champ for me I change the oil every month with Royal Purple synthetic and I only run race gas in it Still starts on the first pull pretty much every time Comment from : mikect500 |

I'm with you 100 on the personal pace nonsense I like my belt drive with squeeze lever (like pliers) Quick response, can feather for maneuvering, etc Transmission has half dozen or so speeds
br
brBinary (On/Off) drive and personal pace stuff is nonsense for marketing But is less useful and flexible
br
brI'm going to have a terrible time finding a suitable mower when have to replace this one

My 6 year old Honda lawnmower this last spring destroyed the 2nd transmission That 2nd transmission I had to pay for because the warranty was over by a couple of months & Honda wouldn't give me a FREE one! Honda lost a customer, because I & my family will never buy a Honda lawnmower again I took the back tires off so I could take the 2 sprockets off so the tires will turn Now I'll push it to mow the lawn for awhile until I find a new mower that I want to buy! Comment from : CJ |

Thoughts on Scag push mowers? Comment from : Shane |

Ive had a self propelled snapper not sure the model for about 16 years and no problems at all It is very simple Steal deck, one adjustment for height so pretty basic I have had to adjust the cable for engagement and the tires are smooth as a babies ass but thats it I looked at getting new wheels but they were like $100 a piece 😂 I spent a little over $600 for the mower which i thought was high at the time About to get either a honda even though they are getting out of the mower business or a Milwaukee since I have dozens of their stuff Not sure about spending over a grand on an electric especially since the batteries are $250 a piece Nice video and thanks for any advice Comment from : Allen Capps |

I own a 2011 BadBoy Zero Turn MZ 48" with 27hp V-Twin Briggs My family is proud to have this mower In the middle of its 12th season, this mower has impressed us by outlasting 5 conventional mowers of the previous 22 years on coastal bermuda hay pasture measured at almost 3 acres Other than general maintenance we've replaced a clutch that could have been resoldered and a single spindle We run Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic Blend in the crankcase and never think to treat the fuel system for the off season, cause it thumps right off into the beginning of the next season Paid 3600 after tax from Tractor Supply Mesquite, Texas Hope this finds each of you well Comment from : Simon Merciers |

Same cheap Murray Briggs mower for 20 years now; same Craftsman mulcher since the mid 90s Simple maintenance and cleaning is all it takes! Comment from : sc3ku |

G’day and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 very interesting video , I wasn’t surprised that you said that Husqvarna is going all electric In a moment of old age 66 I thought that it would be a good idea boy was I wrong the bloody thing went back to the shop at least five times the electrical panel would stop working and it became very frustrating For over a $1000 Australian it wasn’t a cheep exercise all my mowers a re always service and cleaned all over and they are always kept undercoverbrMy mowers now is a self propelled Husqvarna I have had it for a few years now and it’s as clean and serviced as the day I bought it when it’s needed, I will replace it at some stage but mowers good ones are very expensive I will sign off now as this is becoming a Noval, I have subscribed and look forward to the next one I think your lovely and at my age you tend to be an old perve, look after yourself kind regards John😊 Comment from : John Kinnane |
