the funny part is that those kids are part of the people the protests against Israel when they don't even know what's going on at the middle east!

The issue with this video is it assumes that all viewers will know the answer so because it cuts out the guy explaining the correct answers for each question it can cause misinformation as well.

D0P3PRIEST
Tell me Zionist. Why the hell do I have to support your nation, why does MY tax money have to go to you? I'm asking any pro Israel or Israeli citizen. I hate the fact that American dollars go to foreign nations all willy nilly but when an internal issue like Education or our infrastructure we simply act like we don't have enough funds for that. Veterans homeless on the street and no livable wages but billions of our money goes to Israel. It's one of the main reasons I'm against supporting them.

This is not a joke. I have encountered such ignorance myself. People choose to be ignorant. Did you know that only five states in the U.S. are legally supposed to teach about the Holocaust and Israel? Only Illinois, New York, New Jersey, California, and Florida.... but yet as you can see, people don't pay attention in class or in life or what is in the media.

just because young people aren't concerned with this doesn't mean they are stupid. it would makes more sense that individuals who distanced themselves from this subject (which is a strange loop of irrelevance) would be able to pursue more productive knowledge. not caring about isreal/palestine is progressive thinking

John Stossel
This border dispute is problematic because Israel does not even recognize the sovereignty of a Palestine state, and the reason is because Israel still has control over much of the future state. If it was just a territorial dispute then I wouldn't care, but it is exacerbated by Israel two-fold. 1: Israel refuses to even give Palestine a voice as an independent nation, taking advantage of this predicament by continuing annexation of territory 2: Israel continues to SETTLE disputed territory
Comment from : John Stossel

WhiteRavenHawk
Where does it say that ALL Jews from ALL settlements must be evacuated? There is a border dispute here. Both sides must have a voice. There are many border disputes around the world and they don't even make the news.
Comment from : WhiteRavenHawk

A.R. G
Turkey is a democracy. Lebanon is a sectarian democracy. Iran is only partially democratic (with candidates vetted by an unelected Supreme Council). Israel is not a democracy -- it is an ethnocracy. The Jewish presence in Palestine is distinct from a modern, Jewish nation-state. Hamas' designation as a terrorist group is politically subjective, as terrorism is poorly defined and improperly defined. Stand With Us is a violent group of zealots and racists trying to whitewash ethnic cleansing.
Comment from : A.R. G

John Stossel
1. Yes 2. Israeli settlements are supposed to be evacuated. Your refusal to do so and your excuse (far more important) that the UN has no authority, are the actions you have taken, yet you love referencing the time when the natives of the region were split into two on 'behalf of' your great UN (which was mostly just EUROPEAN NATIONS, and not representative of Humanity, else things would have gone very differently). 3. Palestinians should have the right to set their own future. THEIR borders.
Comment from : John Stossel

WhiteRavenHawk
So you have the same name as the libertarian John Stossel? It's not hypocrisy. In the UN there are 'binding' and 'non-binding' measures. The GA only makes non-binding suggestions. The Security Council makes the binding kind. So when you look at the various UN measures against Israel, recognize that most are meaningless. You said - 'It's not too bad. I believe in freedom. They shouldn't have to'. Does that mean you believe in world-wide open borders???
Comment from : WhiteRavenHawk

John Stossel
Lol, ok. 1: I'm using your peoples hypocrisy against you. You ALWAYS talk of how irrelevant the UN is, as they do not have the right to decide matters in Israel of Palestine, yet you love going back to the UN and even the League of Nations that decided your fate to prove your point. 2: No, I'm not having 'fun'. YT conversations don't get me excited. I'm just responding to someone who questioned me. 3: Because thats my name!!?! 4: It's not too bad. I believe in freedom. They shouldn't have to
Comment from : John Stossel

WhiteRavenHawk
So you think the UN is irrelevant? Yep. It's where they get together and have a tea party. If no one really finds YouTube conversations important or serious why are you here? Can I presume you are having fun? My State is California. Why do you call yourself John Stossel? It's too bad the Arabs said NO to the 1947 partition plan and NO NO NO to all offers after. The Palestinians could have had a nice State and lived in peace for 66 years already if their leaders gave a crap.
Comment from : WhiteRavenHawk

WhiteRavenHawk
I made a spelling mistake and forgot to copy the comment before deleting. I'll try to remember what I said. I'll go to your comment and reply. It wasn't anything special.
Comment from : WhiteRavenHawk

John Stossel
So now you are deleting your comments?
Comment from : John Stossel

John Stossel
"I would say most if not all of the Arab countries do that. And I won't hold my breath waiting for them to change." Exactly, and Israel is not special in this regard (and actually I don't see them doing this on the basis of ethnicity, but religion). "Some day soon they will also have secular marriage. I expect that to happen." Yea, and so far it's not happening. These ultra-orthodox are not even that influential. It's the common racist Israeli Jews that want such segregation.
Comment from : John Stossel

WhiteRavenHawk
'What kind of country separates people on the basis of their religion and ethnicity?' I would say most if not all of the Arab countries do that. And I won't hold my breath waiting for them to change. Israel does not separate people. But because they have members in the Knesset from ultra-orthodox parties, they have religious marriage laws. Some day soon they will also have secular marriage. I expect that to happen.
Comment from : WhiteRavenHawk

John Stossel
And screw what the UN or League of Nations says. They are irrelevant. If you cared for their opinion anyway, you would listen to what they have to say regarding your state TODAY. That is, move off their land and stay within the land that was given to you. And no one recognizes your 'living space' settlement areas, not America, not China, not Nigeria, not even Tuvalu. Lastly, try to keep your comments from becoming essays. No one really finds YouTube conversations that important or serious.
Comment from : John Stossel

John Stossel
"-You want to kick all Jews out of the future Palestinian State" All Jews illegally occupying Palestinian land. The rest of the world doesn't recognize them as belonging to Israel not because we are racist, but because we are not. The only fascists reminiscent of the Nazis today are you guys. What kind of country actually separates people on the basis of their religion and ethnicity? What kind of country that calls itself a democracy still practices anti-miscegenation? You are Nazis.
Comment from : John Stossel

WhiteRavenHawk
History Part 1 -Before WWI the area was part of Ottoman Empire. -1920 Mandate for Palestine gave area including Jordan to Jews for a home. -1922 Churchill partitioned area and gave land east of Jordan River to Jordan. -1922 League of Nations unanimously gave all land west of Jordan River to the Jews – including the WB. -1947 UN removed another portion for a Palestinian home. The Jews said OK but the Arabs said NO. NO to sovereignty.
Comment from : WhiteRavenHawk

WhiteRavenHawk
Response1 By implication of 'your settlers ... should be deported to the STATE of Israel' -You want to kick all Jews out of the future Palestinian State. -You agree with Abbas that you want a completely Jew free State. -Then you must want to be fair and deport the Arabs living inside Israel... Right? The only fascist idea here is a Jew Free State of Palestine. Everyone knows the major settlement blocks will become part of Israel in final settlement. Even Abbas knows.
Comment from : WhiteRavenHawk

John Stossel
You don't understand. You are purposely refusing to give up sovereignty of the West Bank. Everyone should have the right to self-determination, and your settlers, considered ILLEGAL by every nation on the planet Earth, should be deported to the STATE of Israel. You either become fascists and annex their territory (and give them the right to vote!) or you stop colonizing them and release them from their chains. "Actually, people of different religions can't married INSIDE Israel" Yea, exactly
Comment from : John Stossel

WhiteRavenHawk
3rd response Concessions were made to the orthodox community when Israel was formed. These are slowly changing. The draft exemption for orthodox Jews is being phased out. That's a good thing. And I am in favor of allowing non-religious marriage inside Israel. I believe in separation of Religion and State, but then I'm an American. Israel is a very new country and still has things to work out. America is an older country and also still has things to work out. Neither are perfect.
Comment from : WhiteRavenHawk

WhiteRavenHawk
As an addition to my previous answer to you I will mention marriage. Actually, people of different religions can't get married INSIDE Israel but they can get married OUTSIDE Israel and their marriage is legally accepted by the State. Many Israelis go to Cyprus to get married. When they come back to Israel they are considered married by the State. Did you know Israel accepts gay marriage under the same rules? Bet you didn't! The first unofficial gay wedding in Israel was in 2009.
Comment from : WhiteRavenHawk

WhiteRavenHawk
Is the West Bank part of Israel? No. It's disputed territories not part of Israel proper. Are there Israelis living in the West Bank? Yes and they are citizens of Israel who get the vote. Only citizens of a State vote in a democracy. Would you allow citizens of Mexico a vote in the United States of America? There are Arabs living in parts of E. Jerusalem who have the choice of having Israeli citizenship but prefer to remain guests of the State. They should not vote in a democracy.
Comment from : WhiteRavenHawk

WhiteRavenHawk
A vote does not make a democracy. Choice between secular, military or religious dictator is not democracy. Many autocrats have been elected. A TRUE democracy needs freedom of press, speech, religion, womens's rights, etc. Only Israel has those. At best, those others are very flawed democracies. Lebanon is religious Confessionalism. Turkey is moving toward Islamism. Both moving down on Freedom Index. Are partly free. ISRAEL is the ONLY TRUE DEMOCRACY, the only TRULY FREE country in the ME.
Comment from : WhiteRavenHawk

Ming Lan
Wait, I thought UCLA was one of the top universities in the world?
Comment from : Ming Lan

shamus jubenal
Can you be a true democracy while practicing apartheid?
Comment from : shamus jubenal

John Stossel
Shows how smart Jews are. What is a democracy? Generally speaking, it is a nation in which citizens have the right to be represented by a government of their own choosing (through the majority and/or plurality voting for a certain party or individual). In that case, their are many democracies in the ME, including Lebanon, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, and Turkey.
Comment from : John Stossel

Shawn N
Even if the UN had considered it illegal, what could they do against the lone superpower and the country that gave the UN the only credibility it had? Of course the UN is doing nothing about Syria because the US is doing nothing about Syria. The UN also sat idle while hundreds of thousands died in Rwanda, again because the US did nothing. The treaty that Saddam signed to end the first Gulf War is one of the lone UN treaties to ever be enforced... because the US enforced it.
Comment from : Shawn N

ܓܘܓܝܤ
The U.N. is a joke..... the purpose of th U.N. is to PREVENT and RESOLVE conflicts and wars, yet they allow it.... They allowed Iraq to be illegally invaded by the U.S., they are not intervening in the Syrian Civil War, they are not doing anything against North Korea; having a seat in the U.N. making your country legitimate is a man-made illusion of control... Do not even attempt to argue against me if your history grade is lower than an A.....
Comment from : ܓܘܓܝܤ

Shawn N
Africa is poor because it is 60% desert.
Comment from : Shawn N

Shawn N
The U.N. disagrees with you. Israel can easily be said to have won its independence militarily the same as the US has. Your definition of a "natural country" is merely a convenient construct that provides rationale for your illogical argument. Again, Israel has a seat at the UN. Therefore, they are a legitimate country. How they were formed is completely meaningless. They have just as much right to their sovereignty as any other country in the world.
Comment from : Shawn N

Shawn N
Not knowing who Hamas is is pretty shameful.
Comment from : Shawn N

Shawn N
The US and India were created by the British Empire as well. Non-legitimate countries as well? Nearly the entire continent of Africa was carved out by European countries. Equally illegitimate? Idiotic take. Legitimacy in contemporary global politics is decided by one thing- the UN. Israel is recognized by the UN. Therefore, it is legitimate. Period.
Comment from : Shawn N

BlueXrysalis
I saw another one of these quizzes where someone asked people in the US about New Zealand and the answers were just as wrong. But I do think the girl who wants to work for the UN should find another career ;-)

Thurman Reed
By your definition and interpretation of his statements then, he would be erroneous to claim that Israel is a "constitutional liberal" state.
Comment from : Thurman Reed

NewDawnFades608
You know there's a difference between constitutional liberalism and a democracy, right? What we normally associate as a "democracy" is really referring to constitutional liberalism and that's what he was talking about.
Comment from : NewDawnFades608

ܓܘܓܝܤ
first of all, thats a stupid thing to say. These useless facts would've helped the U.S. better understand how to deal with Iraq and it's 3 main ethnic groups; these useless facts would've saved us the $1 trillion and the 4,000+ lives that went from the war.....
Comment from : ܓܘܓܝܤ

ܓܘܓܝܤ
actually, Israel isn't a legitimate country, it was created by the former British Empire after the Allies of World War 2 convinced the new British government to give independence to their colonies and commonwealths. Same thing with Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, and the palestinian territories; none of these countries should even exist, they exist because of British and French commercial interests with oil control and preventing a Middle Eastern country becoming a major political power.
Comment from : ܓܘܓܝܤ

ܓܘܓܝܤ
lol, that couldn't be more wrong.
Comment from : ܓܘܓܝܤ

Thurman Reed
Pretty lamentable to see some of the answers given by the UCLA students. Nonetheless, Mr. Schiff's some of Mr. Schiff's responses are erroneous as well. Lebanon is technically a consociational democracy, Iranians do elect their municipal and provincial representatives, etc. His questions would need to be more specific to clarify if these students are really as obtuse as he wants to make them out to be or simply not construing the full scope of his inquiries.
Comment from : Thurman Reed

Carmelo Pappalardo
@Steve how is it and apartheid state. Arabs living in Israel have complete and full rights as their Jewish counterparts. OMG, get your facts straight! Do you know there are Arabs in all parts of Israeli goverment? They are considered as traitors by the Arab world.

Lynn Persin
You may disagree with how they run their country, but Israel is a legitimate country, maybe even more legitimate than some other countries who stole land from the people who were already living there and forced them to live like second class citizens(See History of the USA)
Comment from : Lynn Persin

Lynn Persin
I would like to pass this video on, but they don't show the interviewer actually telling the students the answers to these questions. That's a huge missing piece that would make videos like this more effective, and then to show a clip that helps show that the answer the interviewer is giving is correct. Much more helpful than the clips of leaders of other countries/terrorist organizations. It's like this just missed the mark of really making a big impact. I don't feel I can even repost this.

Comment from : sbh123yt

sbh123yt
1. Reaserches shown there is a genetic connection between Jews from Europe and Middle East. 2. Jews from the Middle East can be divided to 2 different groups: Those who come from Iraq/Iran/Syria and those come from North Africa. The origin of the 2nd group is from Europe. They came to Africe after The Spanish Expulsion, 1492. 3. Obviously, the Jewish people in 2000 was "blended" with other people. This is probably contributes to the difference between Jews.
Comment from : sbh123yt

riggerize
This interviewer is obviously not a 'real' Jew in the sense that he is not Middle Eastern in origin. I know Jews can be any ethnicity, but I hate it when European Jews think they own a pice of Middle East just because they are Jewish. someone like Einstein is not Middle Eastern, you can clearly see he is Eastern European with maybe a bit of Turkic element.
