It's one thing to say that you carry your inner demons everywhere and they don't disappear just because you relocate, but it's another to act like the environment you're in doesn't drastically affect your happiness and satisfaction It does People move and experience a great deal of satisfaction The false dichotomy of either being happy everywhere or being happy no where is among the most ridiculous things I've ever heard Always coming from people who grow up in the most prosperous countries where all the privileges they're used disappear into the background Try growing up in fucking Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan and tell me that happiness only comes from within

I've been to Italy and honestly I found it to be a very gloomy place It's old and dirty, the streets are stinky and smells like urine in many places you go, so many people are arrogant and racist, customer service sucks Italy is the most overrated country I've been to

Florence (where this girl is filming) is almost more filled with expats than Italians hahabrThe amount of Americans who move here with the mindset this video rightfully condems is insane Florence is now the second most expensive city in Italy after Milan, with the caveat that it doesn't have the salaries that you have in Milan And that's mainly because so many rich people from the US, UK and similar are moving there

IMPORTANT NOTE: ITALY IS AN EXTREMELY VARIED COUNTRY You might not think so since it's so small, or you might not notice as a tourist, but life in different regions and even in different cities within the same region varies greatly The economy, the customs, public services available, the people All these things change drastically from one city to another and particularly from North to SouthbrbrBig generalization to give you an idea: the North is overall in a better economic situation You might find better public transport, but also higher prices In the very North, you might find customs are a bit similar to countries like France and GermanybrbrThe South on the other hand has a worse financial situation and therefore public services are not as well kept, but the weather is nicer, things are cheaper, street food is cheaper and better The people and culture in the South are more similar to other Mediterranean countries like Spain, Greece, and TurkeybrbrBut this is just a general thing, don't expect Milan to be like Bolzano just because they are both in the North lolbrbrThe only things that will be true everywhere you go in Italy: bureaucracy is a pain and food is good 😅 (esp if you try regional recipes that are not available in touristy spots)

Something important to always remember: wherever you go, there you are brbrI’m from the US doing my Master’s in Germany and I’m looking to apply for jobs in Rome after I finish (I have worked in the UN system and a few agencies are there) I’m trying to be realistic and not idealize anything, but I also think Italy improves upon what I don’t like about Germany (mostly gray and cold, people aren’t social or easy to meet, food can be bleh)

For salary earners having a passive source of income is the best thing you could have, because aside the fact that it isn't always enough you could lose your job any day at any time, having something to fall back to is crucial, for me it is trading the crypto and stock market and yes I didn't have that much knowledge to begin to earn that's why I said passive income, I leave the profit making to the pro like my Advisor 'Marcia Ann Bice ' , who has been doing a wonderful job

Great video - would just like to point out that if you come from one of the US hot spots Italy comes at a fraction of the price When you are used to pay for $15M to buy a modest home, $6 for a pastry and $100 / month for internet, moving to Italy is very attractive It does allow you to accelerate your time to retirement if that is one of your goals

I guess it depends on the reason you want to move, personally I find the western countries exhausting and superficial There are no values placed on family and friends like the European countries and no one knows how to slow down and enjoy the simple things As in sitting down for a meal with family friends! Everything is big and new and everyone is trying to keep up Placing value on the wrong things 😢

My personal experience I lived in (South) Italy for a year 10 years ago, and a few other places since - currently UK I learnt Italian in high school so language wasn't that much of an issue I love my home (beautiful Budapest), but, man, that was the happiest year of my life - with all its difficulties - EVER Just in comparison, the UK is a miserable place, the location and the atmosphere matter more than you would think

It's a rather daring claim to suggest that everyone would feel like this Yes, Italy can be smelly, noisy, xenophobic, unruly obnoxious arrogant delinquents and criminal elements all around, with thoroughly unsafe roads, dangerous street life, and above all, where the government and its many official organizations are systematically corrupt, and where bureaucracy is without exceptions straight from hell's backside - I still find myself enjoying myself in Italy every time I spend there longer periods of time This is mostly because of cheap, yet excellent quality of food and drink, and generally affordable living costs But much of this depends on where in Italy you will spend your time There are areas, roads, streets, places, cities and municipalities in Italy I very very strongly recommend never-ever to go in to! I would avoid large cities like Naples, Rome, Venice, Geneva, Florence, Milan etc and choose to live or holiday in places where Italians themselves would choose to go I could recommend places like Tarquinia coast, just north of Rome, Bari in the south east Italian coast, Rieti and it's surrounding areas in the very heart and center of Italy
