Pete Venuti
The 3 quarters I leave on my dad's stone at Calverton have more meaning, he always stuck quarters in my pocket whenever I went out as a kid , so I could always keep in contact (payphones, pre-cell phones) , 3 also means father son and holy ghost And yes , he served and he died with me, I was the only one there, my mom is next to him now , and she died in my arms
Comment from : Pete Venuti

Common Dude

Christa L
In Bronze Age Ancient Greece, when a father died and land divided among his sons, his grave marked the division, because no one dared to move it Travelers who passed these HERMS, added a pebble, to pay respects to the Dead, generically Over the centuries, mounds of pebbles grew Over time, these HERMS were a kind of road map (Hermes was guide of the dead to the Underworld) Hermes became the patron of travelers
Comment from : Christa L

Stephanie Soressi

I was told that you was placed a pebble on a gravestone because they didn't want to be like pagans and lay flowers of course laying flowers on a grave is a ancient practice of the religion of Witchcraft going back to the pleistocene era, but that's neither here nor there Jewish family members taught me to lay a pebble rather than flowers

Maureen Brandon
In ancient Hebrew the stones were a symbol of shame, every year the children were taught to throw stones on Absalom's grave because Absalom rebelled against God when he rebelled against his father King David that God appointed as ruler over Israel, like Moses at THAT time Many graves are piled with stone so that animals cannot dig them up and eat or scatter the bones

My dad wanted his ashes spread at one of two places The place he, and my brother and I, grew up camping and fishing, or in the mountains where he used to hunt deer The camping spot was easiest on all of us It's beautiful there The pine trees, the sound of the Carson River and surrounded by the gorgeous Sierra Nevada mountains
