It would be interesting for you to weigh those coins to see exactly how much silver is gone, could be, you've paid a hefty premium Comment from : Michael Ramsey |

Most shops in my area buy and sell by face value There is one shop that buys by weight but sells by face valuekind of "inconsistent" in my opinionnever do business with that oneLOL! Comment from : Tucson Bubba |

I also try to find less than desireable junk But I must point out that based on the info you provided you did not buy them at "melt value" Those slicks combined could easily weigh only 90 of their original weight Maybe a little less So their melt value is not the standard spot divided by 14 formula, which assumes a 116 ware factor and 715 ozs of silver If your coins have a ware factor of 10, they contain only 65 oz of silver So their melt value at a $24 spot price would be $15429 rather than their face value $17143 Maybe some dealers would buy a bunch of slicks for face value and you'd get $17143 Butwhen it comes to slicks, face value and melt value are apples and oranges Comment from : Rufferto |

This is why I love junk silver You can get it on the cheap if you know where to look Great video Comment from : Liberty Stacking |

Buying slicks for my treasure chest challenge They can often be bought for a lower price than the ones that will grade g-4 Any that are g-8, F or better will cost extra Keep stacking Comment from : Toms coins 2021 |

Good video Junk silver is junk silver But I don't agree that most silver reclaimers don't use weight to determine melt value, but rather just use the face value In fact, most of the silver reclamation companies in my region weigh and test the silver before offering a price And that price is almost always below at or below spot Comment from : J Ryan |
|
O probably because you got standing liberty quarters that are underweight and so thin they are maybe half the weight Comment from : Chris Dadigger |
|
Run in the LCS and rub them till they are slick! LOL Comment from : Silver Scorpion |

My local shop sells walking liberty’s for 11$ is that good? Comment from : One Love 714 |

I’d like to buy below melt value How about face value might get lucky at the bank 🏦 Comment from : Cyber Wolf |
|
This is why it's best to check the bank tellers as ppl deposit them because most Young bank tellers don't always necessarily know this information 👉Anytime a bank gets a pre-1964 silver coin and realizes what they have, they are to remove it from circulation and return it to the Federal Reserve Bank serving them for further return to the nearest US Mint for melting and silver reclamation The same goes for 1943 steel pennies and 1942-45 silver nickels Comment from : Tools & Metals |

I've also learned this right here Some ppl if not most are still unfamiliar with what 90 Silver US Constitutional Coins are So what I've found is that ppl who are unaware of the precious metals space at times come across these coins and still turn them in too banks 🏦 Now check it out right even some bank tellers are unfamiliar especially if they are younger tellers so what I do periodically is make bank runs 🏃♂️ every other day and I ask my tellers do you have any 50cent pieces or Big Dollar 💵 Pieces Now some Tellers get confused and will assume you are talking about Gold Clad dollars until you point out exactly what you are looking for What helps them identify what you want in exact is if you establish a relationship with your teller and show them a actual specimen of either Eisenhower Dollars , Franklin Halves , Walking Liberty’s Ect Ect Now what happens is that either sometimes they may have in there register or Vaults or if they may not necessarily have them at that very moment what they do is they will hold them for you too the side depending upon how frequently you actually walk into the bank The best part about this is that they can only exchange it in transaction at face value for face value brI have Wells Fargo and one time someone turned inn $12000 face value the bank gave it to me for $120 fiat now think about that because we know how much $120 90 silver is on a secondary market with premiums the bank can not profit from it so they have no other choice but to give it too you if you ask for it And like I said if you get a young teller oh man and they actually hold on too it as it periodically walks through the bank doors to be deposited and it accumulates over time ⏲ forget about it I use to walk in and just ask for Pre-64 but when I realized some of them didn't necessarily understand I knew from right there it was a green light and for me to come back and show them two coins so that they knew exactly what I was looking for Comment from : Tools & Metals |
