Hi All, I d buy the Lunchbox Reverb I have a Katana 50, but never use its inside effect, bc I prefer my own pedals or my HX stomp Would I suffer from worse tones? Tks! Comment from : Attila Lemy - YmeL |
ZVex amp is impressive Best demo of it on youtube But best sounding here for me its Silvertone Comment from : Selviö Diz |
I’d take a good used Vox AC10 over most of those, save maybe the Marshall And a Carr or Swart over that Even better if you can find an old engineer with a passion… for me I’m looking forward to checking out Sonic Pipe amplifiers Comment from : Joe - Feather Guitars |
Loved the pretenders tribute! Nice one Andy Comment from : eamonnb2 |
Hi! I love the way you play, it's so beautiful to watch and these amps are amazing for the size I'm just picking it back up since playing as a teen I love the echoey effect you are using at 238, can you make this sound on most amps or is it just with certain types? Thanks! Comment from : Jessica Keats |
Fender amps from my experience when they are at Louder volumes The speakers always seem to blow out just speaking from experience Comment from : Mr S |
There’s so many great small amps around but my pick would be the fender 57 reissue custom champ or the early 70’s vibro champ and the Marshall class 5 or an old Gibson GA-5T, I’ve heard those little Vox AC4’s are great to Comment from : mrbigbluesfan |
blues junior end of story Comment from : Carlo Isidore Salcedo |
Nice amps, but…Where are the Vox MV 50s ? Almost as small as an effect pedal, 50 tube watts, all analog and no gimmicks Pair it with any good cab, and be amazed I got 4 of them Comment from : greenguitarfish |

My ZT Lunchbox puts out 100wRMS via internal speaker (half the size of the Victory 'with' a speaker inside) and another 100wRMS via external cabinet (handles ANY 8ohm cabinet) Total 200wRMS + cabinet drowning out 100w heads the small light amp is perfect for travel with a Vox Fx Starstream guitar, or any guitar + a modelling pedalboard (like my Line 6 POD 500X HD) and it's actually the size of a kids lunchbox! Comment from : Mark Norman |
Nice! Comment from : You_Worm |

This review is MISLEADING
br
brThe amp actually sounds SMALL in real life The sound is big here because the mic is way to close to the speakers like what people do in recording You don't put mic in front of your amp when practicing in your bed room I wish amp reviews have a set of mic that records the ACTUAL human hearing distance Not like STUDIO MIC level
br
brBy putting a mic in front of this amps makes the amp sound like a 100watts amp when in reality the sound is WAAY smaller and the distortion is WEAKER
br
brThe sound is exaggerated here and BIG because of the mic The mic is producing that big sound, not the amp Comment from : Val Crist |
That black star silverline surprised me a lot Comment from : Matthew Kennedy |
Not small enough In the 2020's, a Blues Jr is a gig amp Comment from : semiografo |

These amps suck, lolthe only one that sounds good is the SilvertonebrAll the rest sound choked or pinched somehowthey ALL seem to 'color' the soundbrI have a little 5 watt amp made in 1960 by 'Voice of Music' from a reel to reel that will drive a 4x12, and its very clean and begins to break up at half volume, and it sounds better than ANY of the others herebrAnd that is the worst sounding Marshall i have ever heardbrIve heard better sounding guitar through a SS BASS AMPbrEspecially with an overdrivebrIve got 3 old 2204's, that do it ALLbrclean, dirty, and LOUDbrSure they are heavybut they never break down and ive been playing them for 40 yearsbrI know they are hard to find now and expensive, but they ALWAYS WEREbrIf you want to sound your best , its not cheapbrThese sound cheapthe Sears amp being the lone exceptionbrAnd we used to laugh at those in the seventies Comment from : Ed White |

Andy, you have to chuck the Supro Blues King on this list I got it for the RIDICULOUSLY low Black Friday price for $299 anddamn This thing goes from crystal clean to a really fat and singing overdrive thanks to a Pigtronix fet circuit It can get hairy on its own just by cranking it and not using the "drive" circuit, but for nice bedroom level grit and grime, this is a steal (if you can still snag 'em) Even at the $599 list I'd be a happy camper Comment from : James Reilly |

My personal best small amp would be : Vox Pathfinder 15R - if you happen to put your hands on this little buddy, try it ! I’m about to think that if they stopped making it, it’s because it was way too good for the price ! Comment from : Tacotac64 |

If you can still find one, Peavey Rage 158s will peel the wallpaper off your fucking walls if you put enough gain on it I got a noise complaint in college for putting mine through its paces Ended up leaving it at home over break and picking up a solid state Blackstar amp because I wouldn't have been able to help myself if I held onto it It's been my go-to amp since I stated playing 3 years ago Such a shame Peavey went out of business Comment from : aj |
Hi Andy can you recommend a chimy clean tone amp (for funky type rhythm guitar) that would complement the fender bass breaker amplifier in a home studio collection? Something affordable Other player have recommended a Vox 10 or 12 combo but so far I'm not convinced this is the chimy/clean tone amp I'm looking for Comment from : White Heat |
I swear by an AC15C1 for playing live They’re way more than loud enough and sound really sweet Comment from : brandon gee |

Marshall DSL 5CR say hi Surprisingly loudly Comment from : distrustful monkey |
Small amps are the way to go Great for practicing with headphones If you need more volume you can always connect it to a 4x12 or mic it to a PA for live settings Comment from : Aaron Warren |
In my opinion, that Silvertone sounds like the small inexpensive amps we all wish to graduate from and never look backnot sure why it is on the list It seems like a super niche sound that a studio could keep for weirdness, but definitely not a main amp for me Comment from : jh45 |
Interesting and slightly odd format of choosing a variety of formats brBlues Junior, Marshall and the lovely Sears amp were my favouritesbrbrExplains why I still own my first amp, which happens to be valve driven A nice Wem Clubman 5 to 6 watts of loveliness 😊😊😊 Comment from : Paul Summerside |
