I got to give you credit you really have a great way of simplifying and breaking it down the explanations I have been playing almost 30 years and i teach guitar & ukulele but i have never been any good at explaining strumming patterns to kids I have always just been able to do it find the rhythm and play it So i always made the kids find the rhythm and play it slow because i could never explain it in a way they understood This really helped my students thank you! Having learned drums as my first instrument it was actually pretty funny coming into these lessons and learning "old faithful" on guitar because drums has a pattern exactly like it, usually the very first beat you ever learn kicks on beat 1 and 3, snare on beats 2 and 4, hi hats on every 8th note Nearly every single rock beat ever made is just a variation of that, most commonly you'll hear some variation on the second half, like a kick also being on the 3&brbrNeedless to say this lesson was pretty breezy for me, once my right hand had the muscle memory down it was very solid Comment from : Gaizure |

I've been learning guitar for a little while now and I wish I had come across this type of video sooner, a lot clicked with me when I understood the pattern, it's very similar to dancing (my background) and I always say to people, just keep moving your feet, L R L R and it will flow naturally My next big hurdle is trying to switch chords with my left hand in time (and fast enough lol) with my right hand strumming Great video, thanks! Comment from : Anne Elizabeth Murray |

So, yeah, I listened and I strummed throughout the whole thing (headset is great for listening to you talk while doing this!)brMy guitar sensei proclaimed I am now a rhythm guitarist, after yesterday's lesson, in which I kept the rhythm for a few songs (for almost an hour) I'll be able to jam with the best Haha As ifbrNow, we're going to work on a song I want to play, but I have too many I'd like to playbrCare to suggest a Beatles song for me? Something with a back beat?brAnyone? Comment from : AnneBeck58 |
