This is the aboslute worst version of this show, and this song in particular is a catastrophe I can't believe anyone wasted their money or time on it Actually, maybe the money and time is worth the good laugh one gets when hearing this in comparison to a good verison like the '96 cast Forster's voice completely fails around 5:05 Can you believe he has to do Gethsemane, one of the most challenging songs in any musical, right after this?

Judas looks hurt and shocked when Jesus cuts him off singing “I don’t care why you do it!”brJesus probably couldn’t have taken it either if he heard Judas say why he does it; out of love He needed Judas to betray him to accomplish his fate, which was hurting Jesus, too It probably would have been easier for Jesus if Judas could have betrayed him out of hate

The ensemble in this song is fantastic I’ve never heard the Apostles’ lines sung so clearly with such clear harmonies There’s something to be said for the more humble versions of the movie and even the original album, but just from a musical perspective this sounds fantastic

I kinda dislike how they portrayed Jesus in this version of JCS He's too angry, too aggressive for someone who already knew what his fate was going to be Jesus is a dramatic figure, similarly to Judas he fits into a role which he would like to escape if he could This performance makes it seem like he didn't know Judas' betrayal was unavoidable and necessary, just like his own death

I like that this musical has been enjoyed by people of diff religions, and shows a bit of what christians believe while not shoving theologies in peoples faces, so people can have a common ground of understanding (meaning it allows people to understand where we come from), but it is also able to tell so many heartfelt stories, that of judas, pilate, peter, and jesus it gets into the grit of some of it without pg-ifying it, and it was revolutionary at the time it was first made, and it was super divisive, but it seems that all the controversy has died down and people are enjoying it also everyone in this musical has beautiful voices
