I found you during lockdown I am 65yrs old I now can play by ear pop songs if someone says can you play I say yes as I don't always need music to play I love your programme and worked through scales working with spreadsheet I practice everyday because the results are awesome I thank you so much for your course and I am going to play at my sons wedding in September I find it a bit unreal how much I love to play when as a child I loathed piano lessons I recommend you to everyone Thank you Zach

And good point made with the Mozart / genius analogy I've read a couple of Malcolm Gladwell's books, and one that is titled "Outliers" is very interesting In this book, he goes over the advantages that several people everyone has been told were geniuses had when they were younger This is a direct quote from a book review, "Throughout the publication, Gladwell repeatedly mentions the "10,000-Hour Rule", claiming that the key to achieving world-class expertise in any skill, is, to a large extent, a matter of practicing the correct way, for a total of around 10,000 hours"brbrThis fits with your Mozart story about his father locking him in a room for how ever many hours to practice He ended up playing more hours than anyone in his time, and it looked like he was this prodigy on the piano

had a hard time as a kid because of the teaching style and how small my hands were It was easier as my hands got bigger to actually play But I did learn to read music in my year of childhood lessons, so it wasn't totally useless I was never good at playing bass lines though I'd always just fudge and play a chord on my left hand and play the melody on my right I'd make a version of the song I could play And most non music people would't be able to tell the difference

I started playing baritone horn at the age of 68, 5 string banjo at 73, and clarinet at age 74 - and am now considering taking up piano, as my lungs are getting to the point where playing baritone is getting harder and harder (poisoned with a toxic gas when I was 19) This video is just LOADED with very sound advice, Zach, for whatever instrument anyone plays - thank you!!

Thank you so much! You've re-inspired my desire to learn piano! I've heard that many instructors don't offer to teach adults because of their experiences with teaching adults (ie age perception fallacy)

If you want to give piano lessons to 60+, you have to speak a little slower Not everyone has English as their native language And you keep rambling, I don't understand half of it

I learned to play piano as a kid, playing songs by ear But as I got older, I did not continue my piano lessons and was stuck at a basic level I gave up and felt like it was impossible to make any progress At age 28 I decided to take up piano lessons again I searched for videos on Youtube that could help me, and found this Channel It has helped me more than anything, from simple to difficult, and it has helped me to keep moving forward Thanks a lot Zach Evans!
