For me, deal is a true ending Niko kills Darko and he is not satisfied by that, he feels nothing Every mission Niko did was motivated by money, so he gives up on revenge to provide peaceful live for him and Roman Gta4's Liberty City is depressing af, it fits to that scenario

GTA IV shouldn’t have given you a choice on doing this deal for Pegorino Obviously it was in Niko’s character that he despised Dimitri over the course of the game They didn’t provide any gray area with that It was obvious that killing Dimitri instead of dealing with him was a better option Rockstar even wrote it out for Niko to break the fourth wall in his dialogue with Phil about why he was doing this deal brbrIt is done sort of better in GTA V Franklin isn’t too attached to Michael or Trevor And being pressured to choose to kill one of his too mentors for his freedom is a better option that finding out if it is possible to come out with both of them alive Obviously we knows what’s canon in GTA IV and GTA V But Rockstar handled one ending better than the other

I might be weird but I think I prefer this route (I chose Revenge at first playthrough cuz wanted boss fight with Dimitri, didn't know about ending) After Darko moment, Niko wants to try things differently, listen to Roman and forgive so that choice fits Losing Roman is hard but Dimitri in final mission feels more epic as we know him most of the game than Pegorino

Killing Darko is the perfect set up for the Deal ending When Niko feels bad that revenge did not help him, it sets up the first time player to do Deal It its the narrative

Deal: you will lose pretty much everything brRevenge: you get revenge and save your cousin, you'll also get the same amount of money you would by doing the deal An important lesson in gta 4 is always dont pick the money (killing Dwayne/X is a prime example)

Revenge is the best option because you have to kill the worst hated person in this game who betrayed Niko and also on the ship in which Niko arrived in Liberty City in the beginning so it does make a lot od sense to end from where it actually started The money we get in the deal we can get it in revenge ending "out of commission" so deal is pointless and non-canon, revenge is canon

I've played GTA IV many times, and i decided to do the deal ending one time to see what it's like Going through all that trouble just to get money, is not worth it, and plus, We already have money from the bank heist, and other missions Revenge is more satisfying, because Niko has wanted to take out Dimitri, and you can't trust someone like Dimitri, who almost had you killed multiple times, burned down Romans business, apartment, had him kidnapped He's too much of a threat to work with
