He has worked hard on his game and deserves his ATP tour ranking But that should not be the prime reason for determining the seedings for the Grand Slams Otherwise what is the point for employing seeding committees (The Aust-French-US and Wimbledon) when all it does is to mirror whatever the ATP (or WTA for the Ladies) has ?
