I do not know how true this is but I have heard the US Mint has to buy silver that is sourced from the United States in order to make the Silver Eagles The mint contracts out for the blanks to make into coins but sometimes there are not enough blanks This holds production down sometimes Comment from : Jim Lewis |

The US Mint is never gonna increase production because the computer industry and electric car industry is gonna start using more silver in building computer hardware and batteries for electric cars Comment from : Native Aborigine Americans |
As with everything anywhere associated with US government like the US Mint are over inflated, overvalued, and over hyped, yeah US government lies, deceit and BS There are more than supply issues and there are nefarious actions as well Disclaimer, I'm an American vet The only silver eagle I have was a gift from a family member as I buy Canadian Maples or I buy bars Comment from : Terry Cheever |
One is money… making it illegal to sell if fake, without explicitly pointing out it is fakebrThe other I could sell you as real… real fake Comment from : That Guy |

excellent research! So all PM dealers are ripping off all their clients lol so I just stick with PSLV, I don't like being ripped off anymore so I stopped buying few years ago Comment from : White Glove |
There are social media groups that sell eagles for 32-36 a piece Genuine 999 silver If you buy from an online retailer, you’re wasting your money I’ve stacked over 500 ounce via auction and private sale in the last 6 months Not 1 ounce bought from a “retailer” Comment from : British Knights |
Did I miss the "reason"? I heard the cause, but the reason? Comment from : David Randall |

So the real question is what the the real truth why will the USA Mint not produce much more Silver Eagles Comment from : Ric Ped |
How does the USMint get away with selling, on their website, plain uncirculated silver eagles at the current price of $76? We don't get charged over the value for other money they produce Isn't it their duty to make these not-for-profit silver and gold coins for American citizens? Comment from : petrichor |
It seems like the choice of silver to stack/collect is similar to buying (admittedly not the best anaology) a car Sure, any new car will get you from point A to point B, but do you want to go in a generic car or do you want to go in a car of your choice? Comment from : flybone100 |
The US Mint is in violation of the law They are required by law to provide bullion products to the public, not to third party dealers, at quantities sufficient to satisfy demand Comment from : actualsurfer |
We should be able to buy directly from the us mint Its just a scam Comment from : JUST_A_GUY835 |

interesting i tried looking up ScotiaMocatta (scotiabank) and found 2 articles 1 from News Releases 2009 opening of the estore and a follow up article that scotiamocatta closed down in 2020 due numerous lawsuits and gold fixing - so is this list still valid Comment from : Worzel Gummage |

Even with all the YouTube bullion sponsored influencers beating the FOMO drum the spot price keeps dropping Try to catch silver as the spot keeps dropping is foolish If the silver spot price breaks through $20 there are going to be a huge amount of pissed off suckers ! Comment from : Comrade Yuri |
Just buy RCM Maple Leafs, which are 9999 fine silver with Queen Elizabeth on the obverse Premiums are reasonable for Maple LeafsbrbrI have also bought the 2021 2 oz RCM Canadian Silver Werewolf coins, which are also 9999 fine silver and the 2023 2 oz Canadian Smilodon Sabre-Tooth Tiger Silver Coins, which are also 9999 fine silver
br Comment from : R S |
Perhaps those sticking to ASE’sbrare simply ignorant and don’t know better Comment from : Tree3 Climber |
There’s no way I would pay that premium for silver Comment from : Jmes Powell |
What is the difference between the liberty rounds versus the liberty Mint coin please Comment from : Faiza Kazmi |
Always great info I do buy them from time to time, but they are for gifts, not for stacking American Eagles are far more interesting and recognizable by non-investors, so they are fun for birthdays and Christmas (And far easier to shop for!) Generic rounds or bars are always my go-to for stacking Comment from : Mr Scott Ursiny |
Once the American Dollar is no longer the global currency, the Silver Eagle will only be worth its weight in Silver America is falling so I'm done with Silver Eagles or anything US Comment from : Justin Hudson |

Apmex and the rest can eat ‘em Comment from : Arrowhead Head |
As much as I like the ASEs, I won’t buy them They are beautiful, but not worth the premiums, in my opinion I can buy two generic rounds for just slightly more than a single ASE, which makes way more sense to me Great video as always, my friend! Comment from : Alienated History |
Sliver eagle are High to Buy and Low To Sell Proof worth more Comment from : brian hurst |
Thanks for this video I would love to see some info on behind the scenes for local coin shops or online bullion dealers I'm interested in starting my own business but don't know how or where to start Also have no idea how to get in with the wholesalers It looked like apmex requires quite a bit to get wholesale and some of those groups if not all you have to be a part of require you selling coins etc for a year or two it seems Doesn't make sense to me if I have money and want to start a business I need a supplier that is below retail Otherwise I'm left trying to buy inventory on market dips and waiting on a rise to sell so I'm not just giving money away? That's hard enough to gauge as is for personal stacking Comment from : BenBartlow |
This goes to show how many newbies have started stacking Only the newbs would pay that premium Comment from : Italrish |
If the prices to the authorized purchasers were to go up would our premiums do the same? Comment from : Yotefan |
This video was exactly what I've been hoping to find However, it also only reveals that the explanation to the exorbitant premiums is exactly what I guessed alreadybrbrI like to get the silver from the sunshine mint with SI Mint mark That is a very attractive design with a compelling security feature for a small price over spot I wish their bars were more reasonable premiums but it is my favorite because they don't imitate American coin designs The appearance of fakery annoys me Comment from : Edward Rook |
They wanted 49 dollars for 1 oz silver eagle Comment from : RevJim Jones |
I will gladly spend my money on a 1oz Buffalo before I spend that ' premium ' on a ASE any day of the week and twice on Sunday 1 oz is 1 oz Comment from : Edward Austin |
Jack Hunt is one of the local shops near me they sell direct to the public They gouge the F out of people with premiums Just Google them and see Comment from : two tex |
i say lets stop hyping the eagles until the mint gets their crap together , Comment from : SIlverNova |
That will never happen on silver eagles all the dealers suppliers know that people will pay that high premium high price so all they got to do is just keep the price there doesn't matter what the US meant does doesn't matter they're still going to keep why would you lower it why would any company lower it when they know you got goofballs out there that will pay $40 a coin because it's a silver eagle doesn't matter the reason there's too many other coins out there to buy but they're still selling them at that price so why would they lower it I wouldn't Comment from : King Silver |
I have to admit I have been buying ASE I'm not out to make money on them I just like adding them to my stack And yes I do buy generic Comment from : Silver eagle stacker |
When authorized purchasers are paying $235 over spot per ASE and turn around and sell them for $16 plus spot (and that's even a good price if you can find it) is boarder line Criminal There's no way customers should be paying that type of premium for what was considered just a few short years ago, a bullion coin, which you'd be able to get at a few dollars over spot at the most Comment from : Jimmy Licari |
Well, well, well I'm in need of cash That's why i paid the premium for ASEs Just like Uncle Winthrop said let's sell 😆 Comment from : Ehren Krause |
So it's a price fix originating at the handful of authorized dealers Comment from : joel eaton |
I am proud to say I have NEVER bought the over-hyped and WAY over-priced ASE !!!! I have also NEVER had any issue selling my generic and various other mint silver rounds the few times in my life I actually sold physical when the price was run up I can NOT for the life of me see the appeal in being financially ROBBED by paying the REDICULOUS premiums for ASE's that is just NEVER realized at the time of sale COMPARED to have MORE QUANTITY of other quality silver rounds ?!?!?! Comment from : Eternally Thankful 3771 |
If I had the chance to start stacking silver again, all I would buy is kilo bars It comes down to simple math for me Comment from : Javier Avila |

The moment the fed bailed out banks everything changed I was really hopeful of my investments this year, but all my plans have been disoriented, I've been studying the market crashes and I realized some investors made millions from the recent 2008 recession and I was wondering if such success rate could be achieved in this present market Any recommendations? Comment from : nathan westford |

June 11, silver will be at spot 20 trust me Comment from : teddy pendergrass |
I can honestly say I don't have a American eagle in my stack, nor will I ever add one at that kind of prize That goes against everything I stack silver and gold for Ridiculous people even still buy those just because its American I would rather by 5 rounds or brittinias over 2 eagles Comment from : Jackson Billy |
My local LCS in Central FL, buying BU solid date tubes of ASE's for $9 over and selling the same for $1095 over spot Still high but much more reasonable than the online dealers for sure Comment from : medhead964 |

Jm bullion is currently paying from customers $625 over spot for silver eagles Comment from : encepurdy68 |
The USA is a vast country and the bulk of the Silver Eagle purchases will be in the USA Coins are more popular and sought after in the country of origin Millions of Eagles are minted each year also making them a very common coin whereas other countries may only produce several hundred thousand each year Therefore your statement is incorrect, it is likely the USA Eagle is the most popular in the USA, certainly not in the UK or in many other countries Comment from : SouthSideFrankie |
$4048 for a Silver Eagle, $2748 for Silver Britannia, that's not even a fair fight Unless you want to buy 25,000 oz wtf I'll stick to the Britannias, I don't even respect monarchies Comment from : Tertiary Objective |
I bought my first silver eagle yesterday Paid to much but I wanted one I’m pretty sure the first 10 I bought of Facebook are fake Comment from : bmiller22765 |
I did mention this couple of months ago I think they are only buying at Spot +9 PM to keep the prices up Someone is pocketing all the extra PM I assume Provident, JM and APMEX are ripping everyone off and keeping the prices inflated, because they can Reminds of new car dealerships You are right about don't waste money on ASE and now even generics are about same price as Sovereign coins Comment from : SilverJ799 |
I used to buy 2 tubes every year, and now I buy 2 coins every year (when on sale) , plus one proof from the mint There just is no other coin that feels as good in hand than an ASE, but the prices are just crazy When you can but Phils or Brits for less than generic rounds, it makes sense to leave the Eagles to the rich folks who can afford them There's just too many good choices out there to pay those premiums Comment from : Ready-Adhesiveness40 |
So it's just fine that Apmex charges what they do? What!? Comment from : hotheadedjoelhaha |
What if I have a monster box of silver eagles? Comment from : Robert Livingston |

Ah that makes sense I started buying some of the other country's silver 1oz coins I really like the maple Comment from : Joe R |
