Private tutors at home look really good I will be around to peek in and my kids will be properly educated without the distractions often present in classrooms where the teacher is unable to keep focus on lessons 1 Tutor will teach language arts and the other will teach mathematics I will teach science, history, social studies, and art My kids will be taking martial arts classes for exercise, self defense and socialization with peers We will go to different playgrounds, and other public spaces where they can socialize with other children Homeschooling does not have to mean staying in the house and you should definitely get professional help with subjects you are not qualified enough to teach Comment from : Dennisah Larson |

Advantage of HS: You dont need to learn 70 of things like in public school that are useless BS anywaybrDisadvantage of HS: Much less socialising and understanding of normalized corporate culturebrPick your poison Comment from : Definitely not the Question |

We could not be any further from agreeing, than our views on children education 0:53 2:47 3:05 3:15 3:30 brbrModern schooling system did not start out right, but as an oppression that would destroy any families that does not comply It became law because people were enslaving children just as they had the African community in America not even fifty years prior Families were distorted or destroyed Crimes and oppressions is all throughout its modern history Governments have no God given right to enslave people, and this social group generations is wrong for busting up the family unit, instead of working with its natural courses Malachi 4:5-6 is the sign the Bible gives, and this world will see that God has been reaching out to humans all along, but pride has stolen many people’s hearts Comment from : Brother SCOTTT |

I want to homeschool my son How can I provide socialization? My father regretted that I went to public school and asked that I homeschool my child while he was dying in hospice My husband is adamant that it will make our child socially awkward and I want to find a solution Comment from : Kitten Mittens |
The vast majority of parents are not capable of properly homeschooling their kids This could be for any number of reasons, whether it be lack of education themselves, lack of skills, or just not having the time This does not mean that public education is totally great and has no issues (it has many enormous flaws) But this idea that homeschooling is a perfectly good substitute with no drawbacks is quite silly and the epitome of a kind of narcissism endemic of conservatives in thinking that they can do everything themselves No you cannot and your child will suffer for it Comment from : john g henderson |

I’m 51 years old When I was a kid occasionally I encountered kids that were homeschooled and they seemed strange to me as a kid Maybe since they didn’t have some of the social interactions of public school they lacked the ability to fit in? I wouldn’t say in a bad way but they seemed dull to me and we’re only an ancillary character to navigate around in my day Looking back it seems those kids didn’t fit in and were mostly ignored I would say that indoctrination happens when your kids have no previous ideology to start from Both of my boys know my religious views, my political views and that’s that I would be disappointed if they ran polar opposite to me but that’s their god given and constitutional rights to do so Spread out good ground work and that’s all we can do Comment from : vf12497439 |

No Dr Peterson Homeschooling is always superior to government indoctrination Public schools are always a bad idea In a way, you’re argument sounds a bit elitist Any normal person can teach their children all they need to know Home schooling curriculum are very well thought out and geared toward the average parent being able to teach it Public school teachers are education mercenaries Parents are far better than any and every teacher That’s just reality Never trust a corrupt government system with your children, your life or your money Never Ever Comment from : Talisi Kid |
Do you want your doctor to be homeschooled, or the guy welding your bridge to be homeschooled? I don't know much about homeschooling and the outcomes of it, but I suspect people don't have high expectations for kids that get homeschooled Maybe some kids are geniuses and have tiger moms, but they're not getting vetted properly in our only the strongest survive public school system I question whether they can really grind it out in tough situations, and rise to the top, at leadlst I don't think a large percentage will be able to At this rate, why not just have his mom be his drill instructor when he joins the Army and goes through basic training I'm sure his mom will be a better drill instructor than a stranger drill Sargeant who will go really hard in him, and hold him accountable for bad performances He'll thrive under his mommy My fear is it's gonna create a nation of pussies Homeschool was mainly for Cult level Christians trying to isolate their children from outside influences that conflict with their Religion It's not a performance enhancing alternative to a regular high school Comment from : Lizardking5150 |
I dont like the idea of homeschooling I don't think anyone can teach nor decide what they should learn Parents don't have the knowledge nor the variety of sources that some teachers have Also, there must learn to act in a highly competitive environment bcs that is what are society is Also, they need to be exposed to a microcosm and study and observe other social behaviors brI feel like Parents nowadays are higly overprotective and controlling And it is scary Comment from : Tania Pitsal |
So exactly what is so dreadful about becoming a social justice warrior? What is bad about social justice? Comment from : Calamity Pip |

As long as you teach your kids to think critcaly of what they are taught and what they read, i dont see why you should wory I questioned everything, i was a pain in the ass to my teachers, yet i wass congratulated at parents evenings for that For questioning everything Everyone should question everything Its what makes us smarter Comment from : Peter Nielsen |
My kids are partially homeschooled I homeschool sometimes a whole school year or for two quarters of a school year, all depends on what’s going on One of our homeschooling curriculum is Christian apologetics which includes using reason and logic when conversing with an opposing side brbrSomething that I’ve been told about my children when they are in public school is that they have an intense debating spirit with other children in their classes Others will call them independent minds and excellent role models The last thing I want is my children conforming themselves to the ways of the world or the majority of the crowd brbrPoint is, like he said, if you’re going to send your kids to public school make sure you equipe your children with the right tools to think for themselves To be able to discern when they are being indoctrinated and when they are being educatedbrbrWonderful video Makes a lot of sense! Blessings! Comment from : Delia Delgado |

This is group thinking disguised as academic speech No difference between indoctrination and education, they both come together I understand you want to indoctrinate your children with your own thinking and it's your right But pretend otherwise is corrupt Comment from : mark vogelfaenger |

I'm a holistic practioner and i see lots of kids in my office and with out a doubt home school kids are consistently more confident, more social and way less stressed than public or private school kids I'm home schooling my kid when time comes and encourage others to do the same Comment from : Dominick DAnna |

All you need to know is the origins of the public school system to know it's not a good thing over all Comment from : Laneweever |

This is interesting I understand this moms concern I was in public school but I was a major outcast and only graduated out of fear of what would happen if I didnt But Ive seen only negative views on homeschooling The child felt like they couldnt be apart of things They had to sneak out to have friends because her friends were always at school or at home working doing Homework and having a set bedtime to get up the next day Last time I spoke to her she really blamed her mom for everything, her mentalillness Her dad died at a young age so I can only imagine that was hard for her mother to raise her right well And its sad cus her daughter hates her mother who proobably tried her best to understand So i very much understand the fear this mother has to homschool her child Its not about the schooling, its about the negative social effects itll have on the child Its like the only way a child can expirience other people is through their parents, school, church and social media Comment from : woogly |

Homeschool is foolishness in its entirety! I had my life destroyed by homeschooling, what Jordan Peterson said is correct, there's a large percentage of pathological homeschool mothers, that use homeschool to enhance their already abusive nature Comment from : M Chambers |
I hated public school I was always bullied could never fit in I always had anxiety since it was a large school it was more like a prison I was just tryna survive I think I would of cared more if I was homeschooled I just think the whole school system fails kids like us who can't fit in and have anxiety and the school system doesn't even care about the kids I think you failed your kids if you send them to a public school Comment from : Darkz_Beatz |
Because we follow montessori philosophy which isn’t rockefella funded public curriculum The monstessori kids who don’t even study for the tests beat all the public school kids on the test All their scores were higher Comment from : Natalie Willmot |
My public school experience was good, but now that I am much older and can analyze it as I look back it was very neglectful I struggled a lot, but I was also a very shy kid, so teachers naturally liked me because I was patient and obedient and never caused trouble That being said, it was a recipe for isolation and lack of support When it came to homework my parents weren’t much help at all, they couldn’t support me but they also never disciplined or encouraged me properly to get homework done, so wether I needed to get it done or not they were not attentive to it, and I could easily get away without doing it because they would never know or inquire about it even when it came to teacher conferences my parents rarely attended in between their busy schedule and also just not remembering the school schedule for these events I was pushed along grade by grade even though I always felt stuck and never fully understood concepts to be comfortable enough moving forward with it This carried on even throughout high school, though I was able to be more vocal and have more of a decision, I had a serious lack of social skills and no discipline instilled in me so it was easy to finesse and lie my way out of classes and pretend that I had other issues going on to avoid confronting my suffering education I wish my family was capable of homeschooling me, but I also wish the education system was better at addressing individual needs but I guess its just not built to be that way Comment from : Bee |

Most all comments in favor of homeschooling, except maybe one Yet I have only met homeschooled kids that were extremely shy and awkward in public spaces standing very close to the parents, not answering to greetings from child or adult "strangers" Maybe they had preexisting conditions prompted homeschooling? Comment from : lan nguyen |
I was homeschooled for 11 years The goal of homeschooling is not to spare one's children from indoctrination It is to indoctrinate children with the values of their parents, generally The academy at every level, K-Postsecondary, is designed to turn pupils away from the traditional Christian values of the WestbrThe academy is trying to convert the next generation into the Marxian ideal of Social ManbrIt is impossible to operate any educational institution in a value-neutral fashion All education entails some degree of indoctrination When paired with instruction in things like critical thinking, logic, rhetoric and discourse, mathematics and the various empirical sciences, doctrine serves to form a code of conduct brbrRemember the two commandments of Jesus (Mark 12) and the ten commandments of God through Moses (Exodus 20) Tell me those forms of indoctrination are undesirable I challenge you Comment from : GingerJabber |

Public school caused me depression, I hope I can homeschool my children in the future Comment from : Aya strm |

I love jordan peterson I think it depends on the parents & the kids I'm homeschooling my 12 year old son who has been to high school he struggled with the behaviour of the other kids We are waiting to send him a school right next to our house which hopefully will be better I want him to cope in this crazy world but equally accepted for being unique & smart I agree with the over protective mother thing something I never want to be but times are so different from when I was a kid its scary Comment from : Selina Li |

I think home schooling omits a critical part of a childs education Especially among young boys they don't get to hear all the lies elementary school boys tell each other Thus they don't learn how to tell who is lieng and who is not Comment from : 1murder99 |

Homeschooling for religious reasons should be illegal Comment from : Tyler Matthew Harris |

It’s interesting; what we call home schooling is quite commonplace around the rest of the globe Children learn at home with their parents and lead an otherwise perfectly normal life It’s only in the West that it’s seen some kind of sheltered stigmabrbrOf course, western secular culture has the kinds of things one might want to protect their children from But eventually they have to grow up Comment from : Gen |

The key here is that the parent is CAPABLE of homeschooling Comment from : Kids In The Hall |

I'm was homeschooled from 11 to 16 Homeschooling in itself I think if done right with good intentions can be very positive and great, specially because of the indoctrination in schools are nothing more that program centres to brainwash the official narrative of everything into children in order to become conformist, unquestioning servants of the system brHowever, if homeschooling is used in a negative way in order to exercise control over children, or the child is in an abusive or controlling situation with his/her parents or family and/or the family or parenting is dysfunctional it can be extremely damaging and a negative experience brSo, homeschooling in and of itself is not the problem when/if negative outcomes arise, but the intentions behind it Comment from : MarkJ |

I was home schooled after age 9 and it ruined my life I had no friends and as a result I was a 9 year old in an 18 year olds body I had no idea how to interact with people outside my family I to this day at age 31 have no friends never even a girlfriend or anything Comment from : Taylor Smith |
Wish homeschooling was legal in my country when you know that "school" is about taking kids from their parents and brainwashing them to become government slaves it's really easy to see why schools operate the way they do Comment from : Oscar |
Im concerned about parents using this as an excuse to homeschool but instead of educating the child about the way of the world, they would indocrinate them into an ideology or use it as a cover for abuse Comment from : cirtainrod94 |
I have been homeschooled my entire life, and I must say, it has been so overwhelmingly impactful on so many ways throughout my life I would be a completely different person in public schoolbrbrHomeschooling has allowed me to pursue my passions, and desire to work I am 15, have an impactful job, fulfilling ECs, and spending more time at home gives you a fantastic work ethicbrbrI live on a farm, and my father has been instrumental with instituting a work ethic within me, and I don’t think that could’ve happened if I was in public school Comment from : Battle Pans |
Just be in your childs life and try guideing them down a correct path, if school the one that's indoctornating them, and your kids cant talk to you about what they learned without you going into a ball of rage and cant even talk about the subject tells me your failing as a parent Also, its a double edge sword forcing your beliefs on your children, so my advice is to teach them about having an opinion and allow them to be able to form one and not an imprinted one Comment from : HollowG69 |
You can not spend about 1 hour of time per day with your child and combat the 6 or more hours per day they spend in public school I am part of the leadership of a large homeschool support group, have been for about 9 years, and the outcome of homeschooled students is always much better than the outcome of public schooled students Even the ones with lower academic teaching become students ready for work and able to communicate properly with others, and they are able to think properly Colleges and employers tend to prefer homeschooled students, because (in my view) they are not educated into the entitlement attitude Comment from : Gabriella Michaliszyn |
I was homeschooled as a child and adjusting to the real world was something that was immensely difficult for me and even to this day I feel very seperated from all of my peers If you do homeschool your kids please make sure they interact with other proper children on a daily basis unless they end up attempting suicide like me At the current moment it is insanely easy to homeschool your kids, all you have to do is file a piece of paper once a year No checkups on the children, no license, nothing It's completely absurd Comment from : JFS |
I chose to homeschool out of necessity I never believed in homeschooling Until my child came down with a disease from a tick, it was not plannedbrbrI choose the Charlotte Mason Method It’s a gentle style but rich education I love teaching and she loves learningbrbrShe never wanted to go back after getting well She said I finally feel like I’m being educated School is a challenge and a joy I’m finally getting concepts that I struggled to learn and no one could give me an answer I understoodbrbrDespite being in 8th grade and in algebra 2 She still didn’t understand fractions She couldn’t explain itbrbrIn home ec, she finally got the concept Real world education No dry boring textbooks History read as a narrative rather than crusty factsbrbrScience was what parts she wanted to learn about She did zoology, human anatomy, physic and chemistrybrbrIt’s been my greatest joy to teach my daughter about the world It’s awesome to see her have a say in her educationbrbrI’d wished I would have started sooner Comment from : Reba Seymour |

I don’t see how my children can be indoctrinated at school There’s this hysteria taking place that we as parents are idiots Parent your children Talk to them Be present Don’t run and hide from somebrMonster that isn’t coming to get you These are the parents that read parenting books cover to cover Not just to gain insight but to color by number their interactions with their kids Comment from : Kim And Caffeine |
I would have loved to have been home schooled except for 1 thing There was no way I could've learned anything from my toxic mother School gave me a much needed break from her Comment from : Black Coffee |
I feel like homeschooling has become a more desirable option due to the corrupt nature of public schools and the recent pandemic that sent kids home anyway 🤷♀️ Comment from : MickeyMoose93 |
I really like the homeschooling program that my sister has her kids in because there are several homeschooling parents and children that are a part of it Once a week, the entire group meets together and discusses what they’ve learned, etc Also, my sister gives her children social interaction opportunities through things like dance, gymnastics, and learning an instrument Her children are very intelligent, well rounded, mature, individuals Comment from : MickeyMoose93 |
I am young but i think the solution is simple, do like any fantastic quality of parent does, interact and talk with them productively - like how they are engaged in the school projects My English teacher is like Jordan Peterson; very philosophical, relatively the same age, tall and with white hair(lol!), but he was careful about his words and listened to everything you said so as to eliminate the confusion that begins in basic conversation, however which is found commonly in the educational institutions I see that homeschool children often have better responsiveness and social skills, or maybe they just don't have the same mood swings, but there are benefits to every aspect of something Comment from : Elzie Hamilton Jr |
It’s amazing how schools suck the joy and confidence out of learning and the pursuit of topics you like but are advised not to pursue in latter years of high school because you “wouldn’t be able to hand it”brIt only benefits those individuals who are highly agreeable and orderly who happily comply with the systembrYet every homeschool individual I’ve met is hyper curious and unapologetic in his or her learning pursuits Comment from : Benjamin Jeffery |

I was homeschooled after elementary and I definitely succeeded more in my adult years than the friends I went to elementary with (who continued public school) I think there are great public schools, but in my state, schools are very underfunded and quite frankly, terrible Unless you’re wealthy and live in a wealthy neighborhood, your school is probably awful We lived in a very poor town and couldn’t afford to move or go to the private schools in the nearby towns Homeschooling was the best option brbrI also got in less trouble as a teen since I wasn’t constantly around other teens and involved in drama We had a lot of teen deaths in our town from high schoolers driving dangerously, or suicides, one teenager got very drunk at a party and stabbed his girlfriend to death after finding out she was giving a bunch of guys oral in the school bathroom One of my old friends got a bad infection from a homemade tattoo that another high schooler did for her I’m very glad I wasn’t involved in the drama that happened at the public school in our town I still kept in touch with my friends from elementary (mostly through text and Facebook) and hearing some of the things that happened at school makes me never want my kids to go to public school brbrThe only thing I wish my parents did differently was making sure I did socialize more with other people outside of the family; I was very socially awkward early on in college and at work Aside from my old friends, I never spent much time around other people and so I was never forced to meet new people and build relationships until I started working and started college Comment from : Kate |

This was 5 years ago, I'm curious how much further his pendulum has swung nowadays, what with kids literally being given hormones and told to keep it a secret by psychotic teachers in some places Comment from : Premium Fruits |

We've homeschooled our two children (11 & 13) from the very beginning This decision was made in large part because my wife and I both went to public school I was the socialite, indulging in alcohol and drugs, partying all the time, and she was the introverted shy kid who was picked on all the time With the help of God I was able to transcend the addictions, and have built a stable family life in the process My wife is full time at home, so although I help out with the education at home, it is mainly my wife who is doing the teaching We use a wide variety of curriculum, tailored to each child depending on their strengths and needs It has never been financially 'easy' having a single parent income However it has allowed me to focus more on my career, as well as become more financially literate, and with that I have been able to reach a level where I can adequately provide for the needs of my family The dual income approach that most families adhere to is a deception of the modern age, because it never seems to be enough The result is usually two parents who are burned out, financially insolvent, and never seem to have enough time together as a family I can honestly say, not only have my children received a remarkable education, but we have probably spent more time collectively as a family than 90 of parents today I don't regret making the decision to homeschool for a single second, and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who is at least willing to give it a try Comment from : Bill Golden |
