Its nice to hear your amp journey from when you started I started playing in 1978 and my first real amp was a Marshall JMP50 top I still have that amp today! The tweed deluxe is one of my favorite amps I have one of the 57 clones but also an original 53 5b3 model This one doesn’t have the 4 inputs but has a mic input which also breaks up really fast A deluxe and a p90 les Paul is a golden combination 😊 Comment from : John Sormani |
Thanks for this video it really helps to demo gear like this Any rules of thumb about sequencing these pedals would also be helpful Comment from : Pharmdog |
VOX valvetronix amps do a great classic VOX tone for cheap I enjoyed mine for British invasion stuff Comment from : Jim Dep |
I’m trying to figure out what I can get for a good tube amp, atm I have a 1970’s Randall r212s cab with a line 6 spider head but idk I’m looking to see what I can get for great sound and ability to use good pedals Comment from : Bcuube |
still rather have a Boss Katana Comment from : J V |
I have a Fender Blues Deluxe from the early 90s, I love it but it is so loud, so I use my Egnator 30 combo to record with Comment from : Ryder L |
Hello! brI Like Fender Tweed series their clean tone (and blackface Fender too) Buy I don`t like when they are break up Comment from : zhest07 |
I have three Tweed Deluxe’s and I’d happily buy a fourth Comment from : Andy Orr |
6:21 you changed the pickups??? Comment from : Timothy Henson |
I used to use a Line 6 amp in which had many effects that I could tweak even further within the one amp That seems a lot simpler than using a bunch of external pedals like you showed I would imagine now there are even better "all-in-one" amps people can buy Comment from : Malcolm Achtman |
One ampis one too many Comment from : Fk45 |
@rhett My vote for the most affordable amp is the Peavey Classic 30watt Sound, use styles and price Give it a try! Comment from : roberto carmona |
what is the spec of strat in the video bro ? Comment from : nipponzzz |
Hot Rod Duville is the best amp I've ever owned and it's perfect for live - this one in the video is cool too but I'd prefer a Music Man Comment from : Andrew Hart |
you are a bad guitarist Comment from : John Miller |
What do you do if your tubes go out on a gig? brI went through that 1 time and canned the tube amp mentality I’ve played solid state for a few years now and I’m happy I play a Roland jazz chorus 40 Comment from : Christian Garcia |
I’ve been playing seriously for 2 years My parents still hate that I play 😊 Comment from : Gibby |

Genz Benz BP30 - all-tube, hidden gem of versatility Unfortunately Fender bought and shelved the brand immediately Comment from : Viktor Moldvaji |

Whoa wait, what guitar is that in the very beginning?! Comment from : PANICBLADE |
Orange Thunder 30 Combo Comment from : Chargers Fan |
Alot of tube amps just sound great as a clean platform which is the main reason to have one Add a pedal Boom I have a 30 watt I would put up against a 150watt solid state Tonaly demolish without losing context or clarity Thats what I love about tube amps Comment from : Stephen Cole |
Nice tone !!! Rhett makes a very good point Every amp has a strength and a weakness What I notice is that combo amps have a special charm I'm no amp tech, I can only say that maybe it's because they are made as one unit from the factory? Marshall club bass amp I had one of these amps in the early 1980's What a tone This is the SRV amp If one is in the market for a classic combo amp, this one should be on your list Comment from : Al DiTo |
My first amplifier was a 5 watt Goldentone! Comment from : Bernhard Nizynski |
beautifoul guitar bro! Comment from : RAMO RAMO |
I like the clean sounds even though it took you almost 6 minutes to play I don't really like the distorted sound here I prefer my own boxes thru headphones Nothing like natural open air distortion when the tubes really start to vibrate Marshalls and old Fenders shine there Nice amp though Comment from : JZM |
It absolutely blows me away what a lot of these YouTubers consider great tones or sounds They all sounded terrible, boring and like you poked holes in the speaker and put the amp into a full swimming pool These tones are SO outdated and ridiculous You could by a shitty Esteban practice amp from Walmart and have the EXACT same sounds At some point ppl need to realize you’re rehashing the same awful tones that are coming up on 70 years old If you’re a new guitar player, please don’t start with these tomes like the other 2 billion people before you Comment from : Anthony DeFabees |
Can you really take a Fender like this and get a Ride the Lightening crunch tho with a pedal or three? That's where it seems like these just don't cut it That's a demanding tone that you can FEEL Like these Fender will do everything really wellbut that Or am I wrong on that and there's a sick pedal that gives you enough of that Mesa/Marshall crunch? Comment from : vin |
Great video sir This still your go to rig? Comment from : Dave Clark |
My fender blues Jr has been my one stop amp for the last 6 years Comment from : cmejias44 |

Fender Blues Juniors thru a Marshall vintage 30's cab kick ass Comment from : Thomas Anonymous |
Tried the 57 deluxe, didn’t like it! Very poor design, why fender created the Deluxe Reverb & Princeton! brMesa Boogie Cali Tweed 2-20 is great with guitar straight in & use volume & tone controls on guitar!brDr Z MAZ18 is the perfect pedal platform because the front end is designed for pedals! Comment from : James Nelson |
Jumped, it sounds like a fuzbox Comment from : Chris Maness |

What the hell is the guitar in the intro???brbrNot the strat later in the vid Comment from : Roupen Hagopian |
Yup Several years ago, I discovered this for myself when I stumbled on a boutique Clark Beaufort for a great price It's a hand wired 5E3 Deluxe circuit that taught me the magic of how volume and a single tine control work together to cover most of what I need without EQ or most pedals Paired it with a reverb pedal and a compressor (each of which used sparingly) and have never looked back Comment from : Stan Murphy |
thank you! great video! Comment from : Andrew K |
How can i do this without a $3000 amp Comment from : Jon Hens |

To keep things simple, what about with this amp, one pedal that has all the different options that you demonstrate here, aren't there some made maybe such as names I remember Line 6, Digitec, Boss ? Comment from : Guest Guide |
Very informative, thanks! I’m experimenting with a similar setup Where I’m struggling is how to get more volume for a solo, as opposed to gain Currently I run a volume pedal through an FX loop on other amps, which works great Unless I mic the tweed and have a soundman pushing me up for solos (which I don’t) I’m not sure how best to make this platform work for gigs Boosts in front of the amp only make it more distorted, not louder Comment from : Thomas Vidal |
🤘👍🏿 Comment from : Lew Welch |
Well, the incredible Paul Kossoff never used pedals, just his LP and Marshall, and he had such tone, one of the absolute most recognisable tone ever Comment from : Mark Hill |

kudos! I think you're the ONLY chap on YT that's put any effects in front of a 5e3 They really can be magical with the combination or drives and wet effects The tones here are on point Comment from : Respect the Riff |

One amp and 400 pedals Comment from : ruckspin1981 |

My "end all, be all"-amplifier (as a metal bass player influenced by Iron Maiden, Metallica and Black Sabbath) would be a hybrid British-style 300w head with 2 channels (clean and boost), 2 inputs (active and passive), channel volume and gain controls, a 5-band graphic EQ, an Ashdown-style Sub harmonic overtone control and switch, FX-loop and (of course) switches for power and standbybrPair that with a Celestion PULSE loaded 4x15 speaker cabinet and I'm set for life Comment from : Wilhelm The Conquerer |
The image of Rhett having his lovely versatile guitars being played through a Triple Recto is hilarious to me Man imagine how different your tone journey would have been if that's what actually happened Comment from : Toby KBTY |
holy shit, did you just said your teachers of AIMM??? Comment from : Zach Shoup Not Shoop |
So, I have watched your home amp series, and this series, and I was convinced that I was going to go the tweed route, until I heard Henriksen Bud 6 12 pounds, two channels, 120 watts, clean pedal platform, with 3 band eq and reverb on each channel Headphone Jack, extension speaker line out Xlr line out for a board, effects loop, aux in for a click track, or tobrRun backing tracks through, and works great with electric and acoustic I am surprised you haven’t seen one I bet if you demo one, you would start to question the tube choice Great amp for working musicians You can learn a few things from jazz guys Thanks for all your content Rhett, you put a lot of leg work in to help us all make better decisions Comment from : Joe Compton |
Where’s the Wah man? Comment from : Fernando Page |
