She's trying to avoid "certain people" I don't blame her though I went to a friend's house for Christmas, his wife told me she doesn't want her kids to go to school with latino and black kids, because schools with them usually tend to have higher crimes and lower grades Comment from : Shane |

Public schools are GARBAGE Comment from : Rig Hand |

We put our kids in private, its a super small Christian academy, but its only 3800 a year I knew I didnt want my kids in public school because of my experience with other people's kids and how badly the public school's hands are tied with dealing with kids and the stories all my teacher friends tell me We like that the school is a family and close-knit and we all have the same values But the parents arent all doctors and lawyers and a lot are on scholarships or discounted tuition The focus is on learning, and becoming a good person Comment from : Traci Judy - Robinson |
Great advice and I love how you broke it down practically Comment from : What What |
Public schools are for clueless or poor parents Kids deserve better so don't have them unless you can provide a better life We have too many pedestrian kids as it is already Comment from : joeriveracomedy |
My district public HS has a graduation rate of 56, math & science proficiency schools of 3 and reading of 11 As well as the state taking over the school district because of the awful education But our particular neighborhood is safe so no need to leave Private school was clearly the best option and I thank my parents for choosing and sacrificing in order for me to go there However if we lived on the opposite side of town with much better public schools I would have had no issue going to them Comment from : CG |
If her local public school is not up to par, I would trust her instinct Homeschooling is a great option that is much less expensive than private school! Comment from : A N |
I pulled my child out of public school (NYC, inner city) Unfortunately, the administration had geared so much of the education towards tech that homework was done on iPads I had other issues as well with bullying and I always felt dismissed We both love her new school It was absolutely the best decision for my child Comment from : Karehnuh |
I liked the public school I went to was good, honestly the private school kids I know were rich kids who’s parents didn’t want to raise them Comment from : Blake Harrison |

Public school teacher of 11 years here I wouldn’t live somewhere with bad schools to begin with Do you need the absolute best? No, but you don’t need to live in a place with bad schools if you can afford private school tuition costs Spend the money moving to a nicer area, put yourself in a district with a better school system and clientele more like yourself Comment from : Jill |
Yes Comment from : MELO FLOW |
As a public school teacher, I recommend private but only if you can afford to It is not worth putting your child in classes with bad behaviour Also public school in general don't have great facilities I believe that's what you are paying for Also a much stronger netwrok Imagine all your child's friends' parents are lawyers accountants engineers doctors That's a lot of connections that could help in future Comment from : GazzaDazzle |
Send him to a public school so by the time they reach 7th grade they question their gender identity! Comment from : Richard Belding |
It was hard to listen to her because she would not dig deep into her psyche; and John kept trying to tell her that it's the parenting that counts! I hope she gets some therapy so that she can be present for her children Otherwise her children will suffer because she mistakenly thinks that the school is what's important Comment from : HR |
My daughter went to a private school My husband and I think that it have better security than public schools Comment from : Haydee Colon |
We have been blessed to send our kids to a blue ribbon Catholic school I didn’t exactly send them because of the academics It was because I wanted them to go to a school that taught Catholic values So far it has been a great decision I feel that as a parent I am included in the community and my kids love their teacher and classmates They have no tolerance for misbehavior which makes for less distractions Before we made our decision I looked at so many videos on YouTube comparing public and private school I came across so many videos of teachers quitting teaching in public schools because of admin and students behavior The teachers my kids have at their Catholic school went to the school themselves They really have to believe in the school when they get paid less than they would in public schools Comment from : Liliana Munoz |
Private school (church based) is a scam The people teachers there are just as not more corrupt as public school teachersbrOhhaha, and college is no different Comment from : Ben Owens |

I went to public and private school when i was in high school I tell you, the public school I went to is way way way more advanced I guess it was because it was a "Science Class"but i enjoyed way more the private school bec it had a better environment(teachers and students) i also went to private and public school in college I would say, overall, I had a better social experience in private schools compared to publicmost of public students are way more vulgar when it comes to attitude Comment from : Nikki Jane Addamo |
Kudos to the Delonys for having their kids in public schools There are great schools, great teachers and great administrators out there Comment from : Oscar Picon |

As a former private school teacher, just be aware that the rules of private school are different Teachers don’t even necessarily need credentials Specialists don’t need certifications Curriculum doesn’t have to comply with state standards At least that’s been my experience in California I have worked with “teachers” who haven’t even finished their bachelors degrees and are making curriculum up based on whatever they feel like teaching Our “occupational therapist” was a mom who came and did crafts with the kids who qualified for that service but she wasn’t an actual licensed occupational therapist So yeah it seems like your kid would get the best education ever from private school because you’re literally paying for it and it’s usually not cheap, but that isn’t always the case Private schools essentially run themselves and have very little influence from the state… that being said, you, the parent, will always be “wrong” when something happens that you don’t like or agree with The school holds all the power Comment from : Hannah Robinson |
If the schools suck they should go to private if the parents won’t go under to afford it Comment from : Vee No |
Yeah no public schools for my kids Comment from : ASMR_With_Chels |
You should homeschool, but private school is better than the cesspool degenerate public education system Comment from : Matthew Tuttle |
Seems he hasn’t seen what public schools are doing now days Comment from : Goose |
Just because you pay $58,000 a year for private school doesn't mean your kids will end up with a better teacher Personally, I would send the kids to a public school, pay for private tutors when needed, and if the schools aren't great in your neighborhood, reallocate that $58,000/year for a similar house in a better neighborhood Comment from : Bradley Maravalli |
My advice is to choose a school that’s right for each individual child if possible School is not one size fits all , that’s why we have options Comment from : becka4god84 |
We homeschool because we enjoy the freedom of schedule it offers It really has very little to do with public schools, although that is part of the considerationbrHowever, I have seen in other families that the reputation of the local public school can really be inaccurate Kids in public schools with not so great ratings often do GREAT It's really so individualized Comment from : Krista W |
I grew up in public school had a few issues until high school where there were no issues My kids go to public school their school is awesome and staff actually care about the students My oldest had major issues with her old school Staff didn't care, every thing was brushed underneath the rugs from bullies to threats The principal didn't care and would pawn issues to the social worker who would brush issues under the rug and use every excuse in the book just to not deal with the issues I have no knowledge of private school other than its not cheap Comment from : Dan Spencer |
Private schools are often not needed if you live in an area with a good school districtbrbrIt is a myth that private schools offer a better education than good public schools In fact often is the opposite If your child needs an IEP cuz of some special needs or learning impairments private schools don't do that and are not required to your public schools often excel at thatbrbrThe number one reason why students in private schools do better is simply because they have two parents who value education for their children and are making it a priority It is the family values NOT the school Comment from : Man Of Legacy |
I have so much trauma from poverty, I totally understand The thing is, if they go to private schools while they're not financially doing well, they're going to have harder times adjusting Dr D had a great answer Comment from : DumbCatcher |
How do you expect to teach your kids spirituality and your values if they are gone away from you 6-8 hours day, 5 days a week , depending on if they extracurriculars ect? I’m not trying to be ugly to anyone or judge anyone’s decisions I don’t think the answer is sheltering them from everything and trying to pretend the evils In the world don’t exist, that’s how you end up with kids who go crazy and do stupid things I don’t think people who send their kids to private school because they see private school has better values and less exposure to the rot of the culture is a bad thing Kids will be exposed to that no matter if they are homeschool, private school, or public school Comment from : Jaymie Shaw |
I recommend to all parents John Taylor Gatto's books Dumbing Us Down and Weapons of Mass Instruction Comment from : SD Lorah |

Oh lord, let your kids be kids, AP this advanced this, let her play a sport or two and gain some balance in her life and social skills, can tell here mommy does everything and pushes this girl hard As someone who went to private school, know one thing Private school almost puts you behind when entering universities, you are a number in university, yes there is some extra stuff, but you are attending private schools to rub shoulders with families you want to rub shoulders with and get in with Thats really what this is about Comment from : Bing Boone |
1 Home schoolbr2 PrivatebrBased on safety Comment from : DumbCatcher |
The only thing that matters about a school is the social aspect My daughter went to a small private school from K-8 and it was nice She got to do a lot but the academics were nothing special Not having to deal with trouble making kids was the biggest selling point And it was free to attend thanks to ACSTObrbrShe tried online High School with ASU Prep But she wasn't making the friends she wanted to because they all lived far from her Where we live, the public schools are generally fine She met up with some of them eventually So now she's going to a small high school that's a charter school and freebrbrIf your kid wants to excel in something, look for community provided options The kiddo took dance classes for a semester through a private company and she liked it Now her school has a class for her to learn drums and I got her a nice kit at home to play withbrbrWhat your kids get out of school mostly has to do with the effort they put in, not what the school expects What will prepare kids for college is actually reading the textbook and making a real effort to learn how to research and write College expects kids to spend a lot of time learning on their own and coming up with their own well argued opinions, not just being spoon fed facts Comment from : Ben Kucenski |
I had to choose my son's school this year All the schools in my country are at the same level theoretically Practically, the teachers teach at the level of the class So, if you are in a class where most of the kids come from a family that doesn't care about education, the teacher won't be able to teach more advanced topics because a lot of kids won't care Also, I had the option to send my kid to the best school in the country where all the politicians and the princess attended We decided against it because the kids were targeted by drug sellers and because the bubble they are in created ultrainflated egos We really didn't want to get into a competition on whose iPhone is bigger Comment from : BlueBottle |

Sometimes parents just want to add another line to their kids resume by sending them to a private school This is not always the case obviously, there are some really crappy public school districts out there I kind of get the feeling this lady is out of touch with reality and her public schools aren't that bad Comment from : Jake M |
We choose private school for safety reason Comment from : JT |
