Hi Rachel! Just wanted to say that I love using a budget I just wish I could have been able to during my marriage (I'm now 77 and my husband is deceased) I hope readers on here will follow your advice because I can't believe I have money to spend all due to budgeting Before, I always wondered if there would be enough money to pay my bills I had recently ordered a couple of envelopes from Etsy for my cash but when I saw you had the wallet, I ordered that which is much better to use

My accounting is all done through Xero with my accountant I am trying to decide if I use the budget on Xero or use the Every Dollar one I'm new to budgeting and don't want to duplicate efforts but not sure that Xero does what Every Dollar does My second question is how does this work with bills that are set up on autopay I can't put that spending in the app the second it goes through because it happens automatically and I din't check it, it just goes through any advice on these things?

I’m not sure about cutting your credit cards (if it is the only way you’re building credit) A person at the bank told me a credit card holder decided to never use their credit card for some time and it brought their credit score down to 0 It’s sad that we have to be in ‘debt’ to build credit but just something to think about If anyone has insight on this, please feel free to respond and create a thread!

The wallets are so cute, I wanted to get my mom one for Christmas but here in Canada, we need a zippered pouch because we end up with a lot of loonies and twoonies lol I'm using an 18$ one with ziplock like plastic pouches and its been working well so far, I do think it will wear out in a couple years if not sooner though

Here's a budget tip fix things yourself and your money will go further That repair technician can be costly and utube is free Sure it might take you a lot longer, but it doesn't cost you anything but your time I just finished replacing the big spring on the garage door and it took me a week to fixworking on it for a half hour to an hour a day This was very frustrating, but I feel like a huge weight has been lifted and I learned something new The thing that really was the driver was I didn't want to deplete the $1000 emergency fundI was getting angry I'd have to pay a technician $700 to $1000 I was able to fix the problem for $92

I never use my debit card If that account gets hacked thats my money that was stolen Fighting the bank to get it back is no fun and takes time to get your money back This puts you at risk for overdraft and late fees , evictions, etc… Use a credit card and payoff the balance on auto payment every month If your credit card gets hacked that’s there money You can dispute the charge and freeze or cancel the card and they’ll be happy to send you another

I used Google Sheets as a sort of check register/budgeting tool I used to have a system similar to The Budget Mom which worked until I became more confident Now I budget in my check register as though the money is spent I know how much is available for unexpected but I also have sinking funds for car repairs, vet bills, etc It works for me and I taught it to my sister in law who used it when she was getting herself out of debt

As soon as I got a job I put some work into figuring out what budget layout worked best for me since I wanted to make sure I had money to spend on crafts while still having all necessities covered lol I love having a budget so I can give myself permission to spend on fun stuff, plus see where I didn’t spend the money allocated and move it to my future wedding or car fund instead of spending it on frivolity I found that the Budget Mom’s BBP layout works best for me built in a spreadsheet and tweaked to perfectly fit my situation

I get paid weekly and it’s comforting to budget I just started the miscellaneous category and slowly building it up It gives me a peace of mind I also started a dining out category and use cash and it’s great because I don’t need to use my credit card I bought pizza yesterday and it was great to have cash on hand to pay for itbrbrFinally, stay off Instagram and Facebook to save money! I like the idea of keeping the cash in envelopes to avoid over spending but how does that work in a world where we buy so much online? As a mom of many children I do not have time to go running around to every store looking for specific items so buying online is so much easier But it's so hard for me to not overspend
