Hey man what is the name of your local store that you get your optics Comment from : Trey Braswell |
My understanding is the fixed parallex is going to be closer in for rimfire With the Leupold Freedom Rimfire I have it's going to be for 60 yards unlike my VX II and most other centerfires designated scopes at 100 yards The reticle is also going to be MOA so it can actually be used as a decent reference Not claiming I can put it and the 10 22 it's on against the awesome stuff you have, but it will hit steel at 100 consistently I agree that many of the rimfire-marketed scopes are scams, but I think there are a few decent exceptions to the rule Comment from : ALLEN B MOORE sharing information with friends |
Your explanation of the scopes was very clear and concise as far as I was concerned I appreciate your candid explanation Comment from : Richard Mattix |
Yeah going to go with vortex gen III 6X36X56 MUCH BETTER GLASS GLASS IS SOMETHING that can't be ignored Comment from : Brian Supermag |

What are you thoughts on Arken scopes? For prs Comment from : Leather_Action1 |
So wrong two minutes inbr Nikon, who had long quit making rifle scopes at the time this video was made, specs its rimfire versions with a 50 yd parralax setting BDC reticles are not exclusive to rimfire Nikon rimfire Plenty of models with regular duplex reticles Great scopes and I'm always hunting for them on flee bay Comment from : Jim Thompson |
First rule of buying a scope Your scope should cost twice as much as your riflebrSecond rule of buying a scope Buy what you can afford, but, buy cheap, cry twice Buy once, cry once Comment from : Gordon Gekko |
What optic are you using on your Dessert Precision Rimx build? Comment from : Anthony Smith |
Great video, you speak the truth Comment from : D U |
Do you have recommendations for start competition scopes? I currently run a CZ 457 At-One and a cheap Primary Arms scope (that I'm not incredible fond of) Primary Arms SLx 4-16x44 FFP Rifle Scope - Illuminated ARC-2 MOA Reticle Comment from : Kitsune |

Agree 100 Found out the hard way and had an inferior scope for years Stepped up to a FFP quality scope and it was a game changer Literally Comment from : Rizzos Corner |
One point that differentiates many 22LR scopes from others is parallax being set at 50 yards versus 100 Nice video, thanks Comment from : Dave Yelverton |
What is a good rifle to do match shooting on the low end price wise ? Comment from : Ferguson TO-20 |
The Athlon Ares ETRs are too expensive for Chinese made scopes IMHO even though they are the best China has to offer but you're much better off buying Japan made scopes or anything non Chinese such as Meopta for example for superior quality and reliability Comment from : Common Sense |
An surprisingly nice 30mm scope with a SFP BDC reticle and side focus that starts at 10 yards to infinity can be purchased for as cheap as $70 shipped or less from some sellers on e bay especially from sellers you can make a cheap offer on It's the Centerpoint PLT 3-12x44 30mm side focus in the blister pack that comes with rings It's the only Centerpoint scope that's actually worth buying and it's way nicer than the typical Chinese crap you normally find for $200 and under This one punches way above it's price point I normally like to shoot using the Leupold EFR 3-9x and 65-20x and was blown away by this $70 Centerpoint PLT scope I'd say it's comparable to a Vortex Diamondback Tactical Another fantastic scope is the AYIN Reaper 6-24x50 FFP 30mm side focus for $159 shipped It is better than the Vortex Diamondback Tactical at a much cheaper price Compared side by side the glass and turrets were noticeably better It is also nicer than the Athlon Argos BTR Comment from : Common Sense |

Ruger rpr, bench learning how to scope/dope/ all the stuff I should be using for scoped rifles Something to grow with but still budget friendly, any suggestions? Something that makes learning things easier, I figured mils would be a better start but I can't make a final decision Comment from : dodgersfn Shepard |
Your thoughts on a weaver t36? Comment from : Aaron Johnson |
Cost is important to me I'm retired and am just getting into benchrest I am in a ARA competition league and I'm going with the CZ457 and I don't want to spend 1000 on a scope I'm not worried about being a world champ just have fun but stay close to zero Comment from : scott stutzman |

You maybe should have mentioned First-focal-plane vs Second-focal-plane(as obvious as it may seem)is that it applies ONLY to variable power scopes Not everyone knows thisespecially new shooters who may be looking at this tutrorial Has no bearing on fixed-power scopes For guys shooting steel, etc, or even "true" benchrest competitive shootinglook for repeatable adjustmentsthose that return back to your original zero reliably and repeatedly Another thing is having an adjustable objective ( AO)so you dial-out parallax error This is the apparent shift of where your crosshairs land on the targetand how it "seems" to move with different head position behind the scopeUNLESS you have precisely the SAME and centered view straight through the scope Usually proper and repeatable cheek weld will assure this error is reduced or eliminatedbut it might be a feature you'd like to look at having if you can dial-out the parallax at various known ranges Comment from : Wil Ferch |

The Nikon Prostaff Rimfire is a fine scope for hunting Using common high-velocity ammo, a 22 zeroed at 50 yards with this scope mounted 1 to 15 inches above the bore axis is going to have zeros coincide at 25 and 50 yards The MPBR of a rifle so zeroed is about 60 yards and shots on squirrels are going to be sketchy beyond that So, a BDC is not really useful on this scope I prefer a duplex reticle brbrBut, I agree, it’s not a good choice for a precision riflebrbr“Rimfire” scopes are usually constructed the same as center fire scopes, but with a different parallax setting Comment from : Kent Goldings |

Truth Comment from : Dino Nucci |

The shope is all most 20 inches long Comment from : Tim R |
I got a trinity force 10x40 x 50 on my 22 lr you can hit a dime at 60 yards every single time with it and it will hit d on at 100 yards I shoot 36 gran h point cci Comment from : Tim R |
I really enjoy your rimfire videos 🏳️⚧️ Comment from : Charlotte Henry |
What is your opinion of the primary arms rimfire scope? Comment from : Dragon3allzDeep |
Agreed Comment from : Linkless Tennessee |
Sure is Interesting to see what peoples opinions are of a “good quality scope” Some folks are so pleased with the quality they get for 400 dollars And some of us aren’t happy unless we are watching the actual 22 bullet fly through the air on 300 to 600 yard shots Comment from : Marlin Brubacher |
Over explaining Comment from : cancel channel |
22lr scopes don’t always mean a cheap scope Sometimes it just means parallax is set at a shorter distance than an equivalent center fire scope Comment from : TeensierPython - |
In short $$$$ for $$$$ decides who win the match Comment from : Louw Greeff |

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Comment from : Ron Palmer |
I like the honesty, so many people say you dont need any more power than 20x max, which is bsbrYes putting a $2000 scope on a $750 rifle is silly but it works and what prevents you from taking it off and putting it on you centre fire?brBuy once, cry once Comment from : Andrew Downey |
What do you think about the Vortex DIAMONDBACK 2-7X35 RIMFIRE or the Leopold VX-FREEDOM 3-9X33 EFR FINE DUPLEX ? Comment from : DD556 762 |

Great Vid I will soon purchase a mid market 22, I learned a ton by watching this, many points I had not considered Thank You Comment from : Dave Marlow |
I have a Leupold scope that’s labeled as being for rimfire, and there are actually reasons for it It does NOT have a BDC reticle as you described Instead, it has an MOA-hashed reticle, however there are more hash marks given for drop (5 MOA worth) than usual since rimfire will start dropping a lot sooner Additionally, it’s a fixed-parallax scope, but it’s fixed for 60 yards rather than 100 or 150 yards like their other fixed scopes Obviously that’s not a long-range precision setup and isn’t supposed to be, but for a hunting rifle where you’ll be shooting offhand at small game at relatively close distances and don’t have time to fiddle but do need parallax to be close to right it makes a ton of sense to have it set up that way Comment from : Tony Yarusso |
Great video ‼️ Comment from : Bigtimbrr |
Great explanation for beginners For me my fixed 4 x 32 filled most of my 22 lr needs Most importantly is learning bullet drop BDC was rare on 22 when I started but be a great aid when shooting 200 plus Comment from : dogleg 1957 |

I decided on the Vortex Diamondback tactical 4-16x44 ffp with moa reticle on my CZ 457 I shoot mostly inside of 100 yards and I feel like it's about perfect for my purposes Comment from : aaron johnson |
given that Nikon dont do scopes anymore and have no information about them on their website about it, I dont think Nikon is good choice for comparison/testing etc, theres a lot of videos on youtube with people saying they gonna stay away from Nikon stuff Comment from : Dan Danita |

Thank you for this and addressing the difference in scope needs for the 22LR vs cannons Comment from : Geezer |
That's not at all what Rimfire scope means The fixed parallax is for 50yrds rather than 100 Nikon's BDC is supposed to be set up with their ballistic app if it still exists You punch in your ballistic data to the app to calibrate the BDC They made the Nikon without the BDC in Rimfire The Prostaff Rimfire is the same scope as the normal Prostaff The only difference is the fixed parallax Comment from : Jake Burma |
Great video good to see some one cut through the bullshit Comment from : Joe Rico |
Most informative video I found put in to simple terms to understand Thank you! Comment from : Kody Woodward |
Channel is great, but you are dead wrong about that nikon bdc rimfire scope, if you use the spoton app for that scope it is crazy how well the bdc works, but without the app it is just a guessing game for sure, a precision scope it is not but i have made some amazing shots at distance that the reticle and app made easy without any guessing Comment from : Micah Beadel |
Love it Thanks for sharing your thoughts Comment from : wipperwil |
On my vudoo for NRL22 Trying to reduce weight, I just changed from a 39 Oz/34mm to a 28 oz/30mm scope Hope I made the right choice? Comment from : John |
Man I want that MTR, will be my next purchase! Comment from : 68camaro |
I love this video! I've had a lot of hunting guns, many dozens I'm getting old and wanted a accurate 22 to shame guys at the range with a $1000 AR shooting an 8" group at 50 yards :) Bought a Savage MKII SV and put a crap CVLIFE 6-24 FFP on it Not bad at all! But I wanted more Bought an Element Helix 6-24 MOA and wow! A good 5 shot group for me now is 26" ctc at 50 yards using CCI SV My many deer rifle scopes are $150-$200 and work great Cheap Nikon, Vortex, Bushnell are great for center fire hunting But for my tack driver 22 I had to get in my wallet The $50 CVLIFE I started with might suit some, but my eyes are old, and I wanted to go to the next level $480 scope on my $250 22 made me happy! :) And while it is an FFP, the reticle is super fine My only beef is it has a TINY eye box at 24Xbr- Joe Comment from : Joe Pangit |
You can't get Nikon scopes anymore Comment from : Kevin Loewen |
I have been very happy/successful shooting long range with my RPR 22lr and my RPR Gen2 308brI have a matching set of Riton 6-24 ×50Ri Scopes on them If I remember correctly they were about $500 each without the rings br22lr has a 30moa rail and the 308 has a 20moa rail Comment from : James Glenn |
So don’t buy a Simmons 3-9 x32 ? Lol Comment from : AKFTX |
I have the Nikon rim fire scope! It works great! If you get that app you enter the ammo and a few other details It tells you the differs holds at different magnification! Comment from : Nosteponsnek 223 |

Thanks for the advice Great breakdown Comment from : jim watkins |
i must explain a bit more the reason i use 10x40x60 is due to mi advanced age 4 or 5 years ago i was using 6x24x50 no problem but today haha is not so remember if you don t see it you can t shout it i like to see the pin head dot on mi target i like mi reticule to be as fine as possible i do not like the vertical line to go all the way to the top i also like floating dot i dislike BDC because they DO NOT WORK because of the difference in cartridges and barrel length another point is what you intend to do target fine cross hair hunting useless and you don t need more than 3x9 magnification so two very different scopes Comment from : Jane Smith |
for accuracy for 22lr if you shout BR at 50 100 200 decent scope will start around 900 aust dollars fine reticule SFP for me is 10x40x56 i will not recommend a particular brand this is up to you you really do not need to spend 2000 A $ but if you can why not? Comment from : Jane Smith |
So how do you choose between the Athlon Helos Gen 2 4-20x50 and Helos Gen 2 6-24x56? Both have the same adjustments, just one has a 30 mm tube and the other a 34 Comment from : James Buzz D Clown R |
EXCELLENT rant- because it's worthwhile You speak nothing but common sense here and listening to your sound advice can be the difference between spending your hard-earned cash on something you really need as opposed to useless marketing drivel Many thanks from a 22 LR rifle shooter in the UK Comment from : StonyRC |
