I need to build a new compmine is 10+ yrs old, Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H motherboard, Intel 3770k processor, 32gb ddr3 1600 and GTX 650Ti 1gb vram unlocked (came with assassin's creed 3), up till the new games recently (2021/22+), I haven't had an issue with it, now I won't even buy them because they are incompatible I haven't looked at components in years and have no where to start and no budget in mind except for being future proof another 10+ yrs I am not partial to amd or intel regarding cpus and not partial to Amd or Nvidia regarding gpus I built comps/nets back in the win95/98/net40 era and my current comp was the last i built When Windows 11 and Star Wars: Jedi survivor came out and was incompatible with my hardware more than my gpu, i knew i needed to build a new comp Comment from : Christian |
meanwhile, me running a GTX 765m over here aint no way you gonna stop me ! Comment from : Fever |
The last time I bought a graphics card, the GTX Titan was like the big boy, but I waited a little and picked up an R9 290 for like a third of the price and had very similar performance I still have that R9 in my PC with my sweet old Phenom II X4 965 BE CPU (yeahprobably time for a new PC, but it still does everything I need, except for editing, but I got a top spec Surface Pro for that and it works great) Comment from : David King |
I don't remember what I had when I was in high school in the early/mid 2000s It was nothing crazy, but it played Doom 3, Half-Life 2, CS 16, and CS:Source really well, so I was happy Comment from : David King |
The first time I ever heard about graphics card or when my friends dad upgraded their computers old voodoo graphics card to whatever one of the newest geforce graphics cards was at the time in like 99-2000 to play Half-Life better I was playing half life on my potato computer at home in software mode and saw that huge difference and was blown away Comment from : David King |
5 months later, prices have dropped, the 4080 is still a rip off though Comment from : Dylan |
The 1070 I am going to replace soon has been an absolute monster of a GPU for its time Comment from : Rob |

I love my 3070 ti I don’t love that I had to get on EVGA’s waitlist to get it (7 months!) just so I could pay $750 for it But it’s been a solid card, handled AC Valhalla like a champ I’m praying card prices come down 1080 ti was an awesome card Comment from : It’sMyFault |

So, what did you guys use throughout your careers?brMy graphics cards had been:br1 ATI Rage Pro 4MBbr2 ATI Rage Pro 4MB + Diamond Monster 3D (VooDoo 2, 12MB Accelerator)br3 nvidia GeForce 2MX br4 nvidia GeForce FX5200 (For a very short time, because the 2MX had died and the generation was not worth putting more money into it)br5 3Dfx VooDoo5 5500 (Used one, but for the more old-school games I played it was a beast and the video quality was just better than anything the other brands offered by that timebr6 nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX (Because it was the god of GPUs of this age and future-proofed me for years to come)br7 AMD/ATI Radeon HD 7970 (Because it was an amazing card)br8 nvidia GeForce GTX 980TI (Running it until today as it is still very capable with a monitor that is 1440p Outstanding card for its time, but I'm slowly but surely looking into something new)brbrLet me see what your careers have been, I mean we are talking roughly 30 years, making these 8 cards not very excessive in my eyes Comment from : Burnman83 |
I built a dual 7800GTX SLI rig last year, matching them up with a Core 2 Extreme It is hot, noisy and pretty sus but it ran Crysis at 720p reasonably well But I prefer to use the 7800 GTX in single card form for XP gaming where it totally kicks ass Pair it with a P4 519K and you'll have a nice little space heater, in addition to a nice, period correct mid-00s gaming machine Comment from : Lurch |
I have huge nostalgia with the 600 series It was the first time I started building PCs for people and I used the 760/660/ti for a lot of my friends And a few Radeon 7000 cards Though the peak of GPUs, for many is the 1000 series My 1070 still going strong bought brand new the month it released Would love to upgrade if prices weren't insane Comment from : Tristin Hamilton |
Just got a Zotac RTX 3070 Would've liked a 3090, or a 3080 at least, but didn't have it in my budget Hope the 3070 lasts me a little while Comment from : mick3y |
I feel like the 1080 Ti deserves S+ tier all to itself for how long it has lasted Comment from : Alxium |

Comment from : Miguel |
Why do I love Anthony so much? Comment from : Brian Tucker |
If Nvidia would have stuck with the 30 series MSRP if not just a little bit higher, the 40 series would easily be an S or high A tier Comment from : Scott Francis |

As someone who has a RTX 2080 OC from launch day, I can say this card has done an absolutely wonderful job holding up over the years Still an incredibly powerful card that will play your games on high at 1440p for half the price of the cards Nvidia is selling these days Comment from : Xuuni |
I started my journey with nvidia with a brand new 8800 GT damn, crysis was not fast but it looked damn good later, 470 (very hot), 970 (fine card) , 1070 (awesome card) and now 3080 (awesome & hungry card) but still using because it was only 600 bucks <3 Comment from : Shorty |

1080ti, after 980 SLi, after 200 I don't play computer games and don't do video For very high resolution photo-editing, raw processing, displaying to and processing for 2x 4K displays, the 1080ti is in the sweet spot, with its 11GB vRAM That said, Windows and other apps also discovered the GPU as co-processor and part of the gain Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom Classic, and Photoshop saw from the 11GB went down the drain I had to reset loads of folders from a large icon view to "details" in order to stop Windows Explorer and prevent it from hogging vRAMbrIt's the old aMeSs-DOS joke (?) again where MS-DOS is an acronym for Maybe Some -Day an Operating SystembrAnd yes, in camera raw processing is so fast that we can wonder what dimwits are programming Adobe Camera Raw On top, the desktop beast without any peripherals runs at 075 kWh/hour and the camera runs at peanuts energybrBut, the 1080ti made it a lot better I might have upgraded to 3090 for its amount of RAM, but it is too expensive for what it can give mebrMy apps do not do ray tracing and my prejudice about the Mudbricks [1] is that they have not figured out a way to use ray tracing instructions for raw processing or non-raw associated photographic algorithms So I will not benefit in any way from "RT"brExcept the newer cards have more memory At a hefty price That is hard to earn backbrbr[1] an adobe is also called a mudbrick Comment from : JP dJ |
I have the 2060 ko ultra brIt’s a blender machine Comment from : Alphoric |

my gtx 1070 is still a powerhouse and probably causes me the least problems compared to any other cards ive worked with Comment from : Thompson Ho |
The 1050Ti feels like a happy balance between size, capability and price (besides the scalper period)brIt does a great job all things considered, just nothing too heavy on it Comment from : Switchy Box |
3:53 Another thing worth noting was the graphics APIs ATI cards didn't support bump mapping or other graphical effects that the Nvidia cards did Some games of the time had most of their textures bump mapped Imagine playing Doom 3 without bump mapping Escape from Butcher Bay was another heavily bump mapped title, but most people don't know what that is Comment from : Rick LeRoy |
I bought 3060ti at 400$brWas i doomed?? Comment from : Thunder P |
I had the 8800 Ultra and to this day I have such great memories of it Comment from : Maximus Retardious |
