Affordable? That’s a thousand dollar gun Comment from : bigal25938 |
I have had my Weatherby Orion 12 g O/U for just over 6 months I have put about 1200 rounds through the gun on the trap field It has performed flawlessly I adjusted to the weight, trigger pull, and swing quickly With tax, I paid just under $1,000 for the gun I am extremely pleased Comment from : Gail Lazenby |
I bought one and after the first round of trap I tried to take it back because of the recoil but no I was stuck with it so I tried to make it my own The first thing that happened was some galling between the forend and the receiver but strangely only on one side Fixed it with some sand paper, and greased it up To fix the recoil I bought a packmire recoil pad and added half an inch of spacer for my 34 inch arms but it was still hitting me so I added almost 2 pounds of weight for a balance point at the breach Still getting a bruised face so I sanded out a spot for my cheek Last time out I got two twenty-fives so I'm happy I'm now confident that I can shoot a couple hundred rounds at competition without flinching from recoil Comment from : jafo49 1 |

Really enjoy my Weatherby Orion 12 Gauge While I'm fairly new to sporting clays I've hit a lot of targets I just went to shooting event where someone dropped 5(k) on two high end shot guns and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn I'll take my $1k Weatherby all day long Comment from : Brian Selfridge |
Does anyone know if the stock is straight on these or cast for a right hand person? Comment from : gerry35 |
My only problem is after shooting Pheasant loads or heavy field rounds it is really hard to open the barrel I think the firing pins might have to be adjusted Comment from : Cole Robinson |
I’ve noticed that your journey through shotguns started in the semiautomatic trick shot end of the spectrum and you’re reviewing o/u now Coming from a the plastic guns to the mostly wood guns you are attracted to the ornate side other o/u world, as most are that newly arrive You seem to gravitate to the machine engraved guns For those that have spent most of their time in the o/u world they tend to not be attracted to the machine engraving and prefer less ornate guns unless they can get their hands on a hand engraved gun Continue on your trail Comment from : Jason Scott |
Ive had mine since 93 it's got pretty fancy woos its a grade 3 run's great no problems the 4end is not a 2x4 26inch barrel paid less than 800 ya a a silver receiver with birds on it Comment from : Mike Buczek |

Got my Orion recently 28" with Matte Blue Finish (Didn't like the look of the gloss since it makes it look plastic and didn't want 30" sporting) The one I picked has BEAUTIFUL wood with knots in the wood grain Couldn't Say no after seeing it!brbrThis was my first, and already I can never wait to go back to clay Pidgeon shooting Also threw on a Multi-Fit Falcon Strike Recoil pad, which works incredibly well with it! Love that it's 28" that I can throw on some extended Carlson Modified Chokes Absolutely no regrets! Just shot 71 out of 76 at the clay range yesterday! Comment from : James Norrington |
The Weatherby Orion Sporting 12 gauge is offered in 30" barrels, also has an adjustable comb Comment from : Jeff Barnett |

Would love to see you review the sporting Orion model too, has some more target oriented features like a more vertical grip and 30in ported barrels, I wonder if the heavy triggers are less heavy on the sporting model Comment from : Lanky Jeep |
Very few (by few I mean none) gun reviewers do is show how deep the mark on the primer is from the firing pen are I like to see very noticeable marks equally deep on over/under shotguns Light primer strikes are a red flag that goes unnoticed until a few months of use Comment from : Mike G |
I have a 12 ga with 26"barrels I got it last year for about $900 I mostly hunt pheasants and squirrels with it I've also taken it turkey hunting and to shoot trap a few times No mechanical problems so far I think it's heavy, but I don't have any other o/u to compare it to It seems well built compared to other "budget" o/u in this price range Comment from : bigred1120 |
Do they make it in 16 gauge Comment from : chris whitehead |
It isn't a light gun by any means but otherwise it's fine (I bought one for $800 last year with 5 chokes) Comment from : Scutum et Regnum Marianum |
Great review helped me make my decision 🤙 Comment from : t bake |

I have this shotgun I've had it for 3 years now and I have no complaints I shoot trap with it year round and pheasants and the occasional rabbit every fall I have at least 3000 rounds through it so far and it's still going strong Yep, it's plain looking, I can't argue that But it plain works Comment from : Jeremiah Cooper |

Im looking for an o/u as a first time buyer rn and Ive noticed a lot of the budget guns break in various ways not too long into ownership A lot of reviews also say the barrels dont shoot eaxtly where the gun points, would love to see u add those 2 aspects of the reviews Comment from : mapple35 |
I have the new weatherby Orion 20 guage Failed to reject bottom barrel today Shoots where I look Killed 14 roosters with it hard to miss Bismuth and steel shells on wild life area Safety can stick in the middle of you didn't choose a barrel Patterns good with most shells needs to come with 6 chokes instead of 3 Good hunting gunchukar and Huns are next See how it goes Likes 1 oz #4 and 5 s on paper Chukar and hun loads 3 inch bismuth full choke an top 2 nd shot black cloud #2s mod choke 1st shot Best patterns Black cloud sucks for penetration past 30 yards at 1350 fps 1450 fps #4 s heavy bismuth full choke is better past 35 yards henceforth you need 2 full chokes to come with the gun for hunting where you have to use non toxic shot Comment from : Joseph |
Really enjoy your reviews on O/Us! Would you consider doing one on the CZA USA Red Head Premier? It is apart of their All Terrain series and has been mentioned as a decent option for the price in Gun Dog and Project Upland Magazine Comment from : Owen I Dunbar |
I just can't pay more than 500 for a O/U because they all say made in turkey, I'm gonna go on a limb and say prob the same factory so unless it's not made in turkey no way I'm paying that Comment from : Kayak Anglers 4 Christ |

You do a great job of reviewing guns But could you please talk about the safety For me with grandkids shooting its a big deal to have the auto safety so the gun goes automatically on safe when broke open So does this Weatherby have auto safe? Thank you Comment from : Rick Bauer |

The bottom barrel quit firing on my Orion 20 gage after less than 200 rounds I sent it back to Weatherby and the problem was solved Weatherby has great customer service Comment from : J Hammond |
Weatherby shotguns are made by ATA and other Turkish suppliers So, it is better to directly buy Turkish break actions instead of getting fooled by American name😁 Comment from : Muddaser Abbas |

I’ve had one for about two years now and I like the gun but it is still very stiff and hard to open Comment from : Southern ARC Welding & Design |
I’ve had my Orion for almost 2 years and have several thousand rounds through it via various hunts and sporting clays It is a little heavier than some but that definitely aids with recoil reduction The weight is not a hindrance however in the field As you would expect no issues as the gun shoots and ejects every time as it should It’s a little stiff out of the box but a few boxes and proper lubrication remedies that quickly For the $$ it’s a well built Turkish gun People who have the older Japanese made Orion do say the quality is not the same Comment from : chris gullett |
I think in this price bracket, Russian Baikal and Italian Bettinsoli is a better option Comment from : mirza adil |

My 15 yr old son shoots a orion sporting model that he recieved last year He shoots skeet, trap, and sporting clays with it for mid-carolina young guns and absolutely loves it There is alot of people that mistake it for a browning citori Even had an advanced coaching instructor shot it and thought it was his favorite gun (browning citori) until he was looking at it later Very good gun for the money as there has been many rounds so far put through the one my son has Comment from : D Wesley Fulmer |
