great video I needed advice for someone who had cancer and is worried about future health issues but also invests heavily in a 401k and wants to pay down loans as soon as possible I am at where I think is my comfortable emergency fund and I am ready to start paying down loans

I wonder if having 10-15k in a saving account is still a good idea when you already hit millionaire status Doesn't that money in the saving account begin to depreciate? How often does an emergency come in someone lifetime anyways I understand it's kind of like an insurance but that money could of been appreciating Doesn't make sense since a $10,000 roof repair today would be the same cost 10-30 years from now

I try to keep between 15 to 20 grand in the bank at all times in case of emergencies (some big medical bill, major home repair not covered by insurance, job loss to cover bills for approx 12 months, etc)

You should have at least 12 months living expenses in the bank at all times I joined an organization to help unemployed people develop their networking and job search skills, and many of them have been looking for work for 12 months or longer These are college educated, experienced professionals willing to accept far less than what they made in their past and are have very realistic expectations in regard to the current job market In a strong economy, I would say 6 months is sufficient, but with the job market the way it is as of July 2016, I feel 12 months living expenses should be the minimum
