Update: The Alesis Crimson II SE has gotten complaints about the Open and Closed MIDI Note being the same So that particular kit might not be the best for drum software use I'd get the Simmons SD1250 instead if you need large sizes for Drum Plugin use
Comment from : 65 Drums

MrGochiefs1
Guitar Center has both the Aleise and Simmons (with extra tom & cymbal) on sale for $89900, which would you buy?
Comment from : MrGochiefs1

Kevin Kohtz

Comment from : Kevin Kohtz

Comment from : levelupmusic

Chanelle

Comment from : Chanelle

leeroy excavator
I have the alesis nitro set just a 50000 set and I love the way the mesh heads feel Only complaint is the sounds are a little lacking just like the 100000 alesis he shows brI myself do not like the rubber pads on drums
Comment from : leeroy excavator

Bl0bf
I wanna get the Roland one but the ride cymbal not having a bell is kinda sad is there a way to buy a 3 zone ride on it?
Comment from : Bl0bf

Comment from : Jesse Pender

Roy Gregoire
what about the Fame DD-1XT ?
Comment from : Roy Gregoire

Sweet Stone Gypsy
great videos! I’m thinking about what you said about the Alesis I’m looking for a set for recording using plugins only, so I have zero need or desire for a module with internal sounds, but definitely want something that feels natural to finesse drummers and will pick up on their nuances and touch what are my choices in the $1000—2000 range?
Comment from : Sweet Stone Gypsy

Guido Werner
you know what How about a video for "the best vdrums for plugins" That would really help me out a lot! The whole setup would be lovely to see
Comment from : Guido Werner

BatMite19
Do any of these kits have cymbal-choke capability?
Comment from : BatMite19

Alejandro Profe Gamer
Yamaha sound is the best no doubt, but looks shit, damn I need regular size, good sound like yamaha, but not that rubber toms
Comment from : Alejandro Profe Gamer

Comment from : raquelchicajazz

Comment from : Christopher Walsh

Comment from : James Vogl

Andrews Hobby Basement
"The Roland TD-07 does not have master right and left outputs"brbrMe: "Ah ha, see, what i did to solve that issue was simply buy a small mixer and"brbr"if you want master right and left outputs, you'll have to buy a small mixer"brbrAnd here i was thinking i was clever
Comment from : Andrews Hobby Basement

Aaron Loosen
Im interested in getting the Alesis Crimson one, any great videos out there to help install plugins to electric drums?

Jay Wattley
Sound is big for me With that being said I remember playing on a Yamaha from 2007 to about 2010 and the sound was amazing So it's good to see them stay consistent and Legendary
Comment from : Jay Wattley

Time 2 Lapse
In my opinion the yamaha has the best sounds
Comment from : Time 2 Lapse

Brett Evan
Is it easy to add new drum sounds on crimson?
Comment from : Brett Evan

TheVideogamemaster9
I was really thinking about getting the Roland TD-07 just as a VST plugin controller, but if the Alesis has good velocity response and low latency, I think I'll go for that instead I also appreciate that it has midi built in
Comment from : TheVideogamemaster9

brett mcmahon
How about putting the name of the drums up on screen?brYou might know what a Yamaha dtx*&/(#k@$-s is but I don'tbrInstead I've got to keep rewinding to understand what you're saying with your rapid fire presentation and accentbrThat being said I did appreciate you taking the time to show us what's what, even if I had to watch it 6 times 😉
Comment from : brett mcmahon

Comment from : peterkray

Theshaker64
Excellent review Justin! Thanks for this I´m about to get a new electronic kit and this review has been very useful I have the Alesis Command Mesh but even though I like the sound, I´ve found it a bit fragile so to speakI´ve been looking not only for a great sound but also for durability Yamaha has both Thanks again!
Comment from : Theshaker64

OPSC
can you take a drum modual and put it on a differnt set ??????
Comment from : OPSC

Todd Anthony
I’m happy with the Crimson 2 SE nothing but TT superior and ez kits, strictly a studio kit for me, love the white mesh, snare stand, rack stability and slightly larger bass for double kick pedal
Comment from : Todd Anthony

Scott Nellé - Plague Society
I wonder if it would be worth it to get the Yamaha kit and replace the rubber tom pads with three Simmons mesh tom pads Total cost would be about $1240 I think they'd be compatible, unsure about the mounting system
Comment from : Scott Nellé - Plague Society

Scott Spain
Thanks for answering my previous question I have another for you, if you don't mind Do either the Roland or Yamaha snare pads work with brushes?
Comment from : Scott Spain

Scott Spain
How do the footprints differ between the Roland and Yamaha? I have a tiny space for drums
Comment from : Scott Spain

Jim Basner
Hi Justin, great info as always With all that info and testing you did, lets say you are staring at the TD-07 and the DTX 6K side by side with a $1000 in hand, which one are YOU throwing your money down on? I cant make up my mind
Comment from : Jim Basner

DonaldGerbino
I can't see spending 1000$ on an e kit when if you just spend 500$ more you can get a Roland, as far as every e kit I've tried Roland is the best ,all tester kits in music stores Roland's never break ,alessis always break ,I go to the store and Roland's always work alessis have crap construction broken triggers and don't always register the stick hits ,Roland baby
Comment from : DonaldGerbino

Khoa Bùi
Is there any MIDI problem with the yamaha? Especially with the hihat Hope to see your reply
Comment from : Khoa Bùi

millerhxc
I'm assuming the kick on the Yamaha would be a bit too small for for double kick, right?
Comment from : millerhxc

berga101
What’s a bell zone?
Comment from : berga101

Evangelos Kostakis
Thank you so much for helping me out I was going to get a new e kit with the 1000 dollars I have saved up but I was incredibly lost and didn't know what e kit would be the best option for me and was scared that I might get ripped off without even knowing it Thanks to you Justin now I know which drum set would be the best options for me
Comment from : Evangelos Kostakis

Lonnie Sands
Serious question I keep seeing drummers with their drum pedals with the white towards the drum, and some with it turned around Is there a reason?
Comment from : Lonnie Sands

Cameron Peters
Can someone please tell me what the song was called they were playing along with on the Yamaha set!
Comment from : Cameron Peters

RangaWithAnEvo
I'm a big dude, 6"3 I really like the Alesis but i play metal with a lot of pedals Probably gonna go with the Roland because of the superior Bass drum Is the Alesis bass drum pad really much worse than the Roland? tia :)
Comment from : RangaWithAnEvo

Christophe Ferreira
When you say "large set", do you mean the size of the pads etc or the number of items in the set itself?brRelated question: is the side of the pad important for an electric set?
Comment from : Christophe Ferreira

Golden Productions
Hey man great drum channel love the content keep up the great work
Comment from : Golden Productions

Comment from : Ian Muessig

xXRunDeathXx
"biggest set for 1000$" just false brbrI love how you keep ignoring Millenium brbrThe MPS 850 Set (currently available for 600$ RRP from Thomann) has 4 Toms, two 12" two zone crash Cymbals and one 12" 3 Zone ride, an actual hi hat stand with mechanical pedal and a Pair 12" hihat pads , comes also with a basedrum pedal and a pair of sticksbrbrI dont care if Millenium isnt shipped to the country of made up freedom, your audience certainly isnt exclusively from Biden County
Comment from : xXRunDeathXx

Ad Rose
I bought the Roland TD-07KV I love it honestly I bought another crash cymbal for it too , it was needed But you are right, not having the bell sound kinda sucks but the overall sound is impressive
Comment from : Ad Rose

DEADZERO
Can I use on the Alesis Crimson II SE 9-Piece a double kick pedal on it
Comment from : DEADZERO

Lance Tamplin
So if I wanted to combine just the module high hat and kick pedals with a pad controller for finger drumming so I could operate the snare, toms and symbols with my fingers, (so that I could trigger superior drummer three sounds) what would be the best set up?
Comment from : Lance Tamplin

Essenter
IMHO, from these Yamaha is the best due to module + functionality
Comment from : Essenter

Nick Macik
I believe this sealed the deal on me getting a Yamaha DTX6K-X
Comment from : Nick Macik

deonbekende
If i only use DAW sounds, do a realy need to care about drum module quality ?
Comment from : deonbekende

Comment from : Max V

Matthew Hernandez
I was thinking about buying the alesis dm10 mk2 pro kit Does anyone know how good it is?
Comment from : Matthew Hernandez

Jim McCarthy
On the Alesis SE Crimson ---- is there any way to upgrade the internal sounds thru the module?? Thanks for the excellent video
Comment from : Jim McCarthy

Seb Joe
I NEED HELP ☑️✅ I just saw the alesis crimson ll Se for $600 brand new or should I buy a Roland TD-07 for like $800 all I just want is decent sound but a large kit 🥁
Comment from : Seb Joe

Kade Haas
Hey I was wondering I am having a tight budget and I need an upgrade from my Simmons sd350 and I've been looking at the Roland td17 That is currently out of my budget, so should I wait till I can buy it or buy a td07 instead?
Comment from : Kade Haas

RADER FPV
Would love to get your take on the latest Alesis DM10 mkii Pro kit at $1,299 By the way, aren't we do for some new offerings by Alesis by now? Seems most of the kits are about 3 years old now except for the Strike refresh I'm just concerned I'll finally have saved up for one, and the next model will come out right after I buy it Thanks for putting out these killer videos!!!
Comment from : RADER FPV

der2te
How would the ATV EXS-2 compare to the Alesis Crimson II SE? It may be a bit over 1000$ but my budget is 1000€ where it fits in Is the price the reason for the kit not being on this list? Or would you not recommend the ATV at all?
Comment from : der2te

99 Sean Walsh
I found that the Roland 6 inch mesh are just too small The 8 inch is the bare minimum for the snare, I made it work but the 6 inch toms were just too small, I kept hitting the white inner ring
Comment from : 99 Sean Walsh

Ignacio Lama
I was thinking that maybe it is possible to connect the roland PD-9 hihat pedal to a hihat stand It would be an upgrade to the Roland KV model, having a real hihat feel at a cheap price Just connecting the chain to the pedal using the pedal sensor br brDo you think this is possible? It would serve a lot of people who have this model br brGreetings from Chile!
Comment from : Ignacio Lama

Marco-2013-T
Hi! What do you think of this one: youtube/00QhVIvJ-V4
Comment from : Marco-2013-T

Mista Pinion
Hey man I’m wanting to start recording with my iPhone for simplicity I have an irig hd2 so I can get half decent audio with it and record up to 4k60 with my iPhonebrWhat do you recommend for holding the phone? Just a really tall tripod? I’m still trying to figure out angle I feel like overhead angle makes the most sense?
Comment from : Mista Pinion

Snikkelbek
Hi, can you make a video about what are the best drum sets for midi purpose only?
Comment from : Snikkelbek

Big Papi
Wow!!! You audio sound is great!!!
Comment from : Big Papi

Jordan Anderson
Best electric drum channel on youtube! I am also a tall guy and would like to know if I should be more worried about the size of the kit than the sounds? I have a home studio with an audio interface and I will mostly be using my electric kit as a midi controller with sounds from EZdrummer I really like Roland kits but the kits in my price range might be too small I will have to play the kits before really figuring out what I should buy I play guitar, bass (my main instrument and most professional sound), keys, and also sing so I want to have a drum set that will give me the freedom of total creativity
Comment from : Jordan Anderson

Mephiston
One thing that concerns me is that you don't comment on cymbal quality I'm just concerned that Alesis still uses medeli cymbals, because after replacing 5 cymbals over the course of 4 years I really do not want to bother with those any more I otherwise enjoyed the hell out of my command kit (and it is otherwise still going as of this post) and don't have the budget for roland kits (they're more expensive here for some reason) brbrIt's great to see a new 1k roundup video, and I hope you review your older videos down the line when new options show up Thanks Justin, keep up the good work mate
Comment from : Mephiston

Soutik Ghosal
I own a Crimson II SE and it has a serious misalignment issue Many pads won't be active depending on whether connected to Garageband or other DAW Can you provide an easy solution for that?
Comment from : Soutik Ghosal

Raps
Lol I JUST bought the milllenium MPS 850, mainly cuz literally NONE of these kits are available in mu country Otherwise I prolly would have gon with the Alesis Crimson II But DAMN man the mps 850 is HUGE, and the module has individual faders and everything, and best of all it costs almost half of all these kits lol
Comment from : Raps
